When in Texas, I was surprised to find city cops patrolling and enforcing driving laws on the highways. At home, there are only state troopers patrolling highways. Are your highways, where you are, patrolled by state troopers or city/county cops?

Mostly state troopers, but I see county deputies out and about as well.

Beach, you sure pay a lot of attention to city/municipality/state jurisdictions. Impressive.

Around here the troopers stick to the intestates and city/county take everything else, even US highways.

Highway = interstate

So you should pick blue then.

No no, there are county highways, state highways, US highways, and interstates. Check your signage.

Yes, I know. But here a highway is an interstate highway. It is implied. And I know it's implied because I authored the question.

That's what you call them because that's the local vocabulary. Like soda vs. pop...

I know the difference, and we are not the only ones that just call it a highway. Ones a highway, the other is a US Highway, US Route, Et #____, or the name like Davis Jefferson highway, GW Parkway, etc.

Highway = freeway = expressway

It was extremely weird to see a city police officer on the highway tracking speeds.
