I do think we should be working our way towards holding a white history month but I don't think it should happen until people understand why we celebrate black history, lgbt, woman's history month and others. Is my thought process flawed?
I get your sentiment in the second half, but I don't think there's a need for white history month. Our society is already predominantly white and most of the different functions of our society (education, media, representation) come from a white lens
We do not need a white history month. Western history is taught through the lens of white men. Adding the other is adding perspective. What would you gain by yet again underscoring the contributions of whites through American history?
I think we shouldn't promote one group over any other and should just address the issues that people use to justify having the month. Do something about it rather than talk about how bad it is and how it needs to change...
Part of "doing something about it" is BHM.
You can't force people out of ignorance. Having a "month" may make you feel good about "raising awareness" but the only people who will give a shit are those who already understand the message. So, let's just drop the pandering ok?
Sorry I forgot to include Non-Aggression Principle to make the libertarians feel better too.
Saying it's racist to not have a white history month completely ignores the reasons we celebrate months like black history.
