"The school is the last expenditure upon which America should be willing to economize." Franklin D. Roosevelt
If the money goes for students & educators & not school administrations & worse yet state education bureaucrats.
But when morons throw money into programs like common core FDR would be spinning in his pine box
It should be one of the first. Education is important.
That would be fine if the government education centers weren't run by the obvious incompetence of the Communist-led unions.
Good thing they are not!!!
lots of love
Keep it to yourself homo.
real christian like...thanks!
I'd have picked healthcare or food and water security by a hair, but I don't disagree.
I don't get why anyone would disagree. Forget that we have an ethical obligation to provide for our children as a society. Maybe someone disagrees and cares only about money. Well, money spent on education more than pays for itself in the form of
a highly skilled workforce that adds to the economy. This seems like a no-brainer to me.
(Cue someone saying that's because you have no brain...)
u have no brain
It's only our future and our children. Why WOULDN'T we want to hamstring them?
Disagree. I recently read the "best to worst" states for education article and many of the worst states paid the most for education. Matt, wouldn't you agree that there is a point of diminishing return for most everything, including education? At
some point, throwing more money at a broken system just doesn't help anymore.
There are other ways besides $$ to economize.
We haven't nearly reached the point of diminishing returns. Let's say you need to spend $1000 annually on good maintenance to keep your car running it's best. Right now the difference between best schools and worst is like us quibbling
over whether to spend twenty bucks or thirty. The results are meaningless because we're so incredibly far from making an actual impact.
yes, at some point the system needs reform. I have no issue with reforming the public education system, in fact I feel we should. But given this was in response to privatizing all levels of education.... I have to agree with FDR when I say no to that
I don't get it
basically he is defending the concept of a public school system instead of just having everyone have to hope they can get into a private school, which would, in many cases, probably take people able to make large donations over say the plumber's son
I'm too tired to think right now :-/
its 930 where you are. what gives?
I have no idea. I just can't read/think today
