To only way to be prepared for peace is to be prepared for war.
Agree. A united people who are well-armed, well-trained, and well-supplied are a significant deterrent to any aggressor.
Agree but only to a small extent. For example, the US oligarchy takes things way too far (let's be real people, this is hardly a democracy anymore).
Being unprepared for half of the possible outcome is foolish.
True. Peace through strength.
The only way? Nah
Peace through superior fire power!
Talk softly but carry a big stick.
It's certainly worked in the ICBM forces for well over 60 years.
Wasnt that a Reagan quote?
It's an idea that that goes back much farther. In Latin "Si vis pacem, para bellum".
It does go back to the Romans probably earlier really. This particular quote is a belief of the Party in 1984
A country of incredible financial strength and strategic networks can dominate by influence pedaling.
True and sad.
Peace through strength! Wooooo
No preparation for war is required at all to fully enjoy peace.
The state motto of Massachusetts: By the sword we seek peace, but peace only under liberty (Ense petit placidam sub libertate quietem in Latin).
No. I could understand the argument that you need to be prepared for war to *maintain* peace, but *preparing* for peace strikes me as a totally different thing.
