A close friend with military training approaches you about being the getaway driver for his team who are robbing big crack houses and meth labs. Says you can expect your share to be around $50K per hit. Are you down?
Find me a srt Cherokee and let's go
The only part of the plan I am opposed to is the part where they chose me as the getaway driver. Somewhere, someone has gotten something horribly wrong, and I warn my friend to get out while he still can.
Maybe only a couple of times. If he's got an MRAP, then that changes the equation considerably.
No way, I've been shot at enough times in my life. Not going to volunteer for it.
Us military would never ask a civilian that... Most don't know the concept of "drive through".
Are you sure about that? Back in 2010, the Army alone had a serious issue with gangs IN the military. Gang members were joining just to get trained.
I'm a damn good wheelman, but I'd be even better kicking in the doors to sweep and clear the houses.
Before kids, yes, after kids, yes, right now, no way.
No. That's insane. Interesting prospect but I don't fancy trying that.
Looks like this was shared. Welcome everyone to my little wacky corner of SOH!
I'd tell them it's not my thing and make an anonymous tip to police straight away.
But I can't drive, so I wouldn't be asked anyway :)
me too. anonymous police tip
No, I'm too afraid of getting mixed up with drug gangs.
hells no, even if you are robbing drug dealers and criminals, those are exactly the sort of people that'll hunt you down afterword and murder you execution style
Realistically I wouldn't. I'd make a great getaway driver though, that would be fun.
I will not make my money from illegal means!
Fuck yeah! I'm a drivin son of a bitch and I could use a part time job that would bet me a few hundred thousand dollars a year.
Let's do it
You would be perfect for the job :)
What kind of car?
Have to be quick, handle well, and transport 7. Also blend in. It's not sexy, but I think the best choice would be a 11-12 Ford Flex eccoboost, tuned, dropped, and some mods done to suspension. The Mercedes AMG62 would be 2nd choice, but it'd stick
Out like a turf in a punch bowl!
a smart car or Fiat
MM - can't fit 6 guys+gear+loot in either of those!
Oh, but don't think I'm giving you a dog - youtu.be/eIMsgZgeb4M
My speciality is small sins, NO
Hey, lost track of your military/AFNG poll. Wondered if you had taken the time to chat with the coast guard yet? Many vets I talk to (me too!) say we wish we would have looked at them before joining. Great station choices, small force = great gear
Much easier promotion matrix. Just a thought - wish someone had suggested this to me when I was in your position!
My great-grandfather served in the Coast Guard during WWII. He retired as a captain (I think that's O6). I talked to him a good deal about his experience, and actually he is one of my inspirations for choosing the path I have chosen. He is a little…
older than 90, still walks unassisted and at about my easy-walking pace, and is hard of hearing and sight, but still has quite a good deal of mental capacity. He is also quite well off financially because of his career choices. 25 year Coast…
Guard career with retirement, and two retirements from two separate civilian positions in the following 30 years.
I also had another great-grandfather who was in the Coast Guard and a friend of…
his, and I know/knew a cadet from CAP who recently enlisted in the Coast Guard.
Anyway, I have considered the Coast Guard, but I'm still going for Air Force/ANG, that's just the route I want to follow.
K. Makes sense. Just it out bc a lot of guys going mil don't check them out.
*Just calling it out
Fair enough. Thanks for the thought!
Just to be clear too, the Coast Guard is awesome, but my personal preference is the Air Force.
Being in the military, "training" is usually overrated
I would say it depends on what branch you were in and what your MOS is.
I'd limit it even further. If your friends aren't specialty (Ranger/SEAL/Recon), something is more likely to go wrong.
I'll agree with that.
Oh heck no! That would make me no less of a criminal than pushers and cooks.
I don't want anything to do with anyone involved in crime.
I don't know anyone that has been fined or convicted of jaywalking. I don't consider that a crime but more of an outdated law from before every family had at least one car; a law no one have bothered to get rid of.
No nod he would not be my friend anymore. I don't want to be involved in anything like that.
No, I'm not helping him steal from anyone. To the contrary, I'd work against him.
I would be scared to death and move. Besides - with my driving skills they would never ask me lol.
The way I see it, the drug dealers aren't exactly going to be calling the police to report you, and hurting dealers is a service to the community so it would almost be immoral not to help. I'm in.
Drug dealers work their own form of justice. I'd be very wary of even crossing their path.
I'd be happy to steal from Walter White so I could give the money to nonprofits trying to help kids that the drugs hurt.
And I would turn his butt in.
2nd thought, I wouldn't turn him in for robbing crack houses, but I wouldn't be involved in any way and would insist that he not tell me anymore about it.
No. I might contact the police to see if they are interested in having me work for them as an undercover informant though, in case this actually takes place. That it proposes to target alleged criminal activity doesn't make it any less criminal.
Ooh I love vigilantism when do we start!
