True or false, the English accents that Americans speak were originally the accents that Brittish spoke hundreds of years ago.

The British accent currently is the result of the Elite wishing to differentiate themselves from the Peasants, hundreds of years ago. I've read the way we speak English now, in America, is the way the British commoners spoke hundreds of years ago.

I refuse to believe that hundreds of years ago Britons would say "Dude! Let's go catch some tasty waves!" in a SoCal accent.

The American accent of today was originally the British accent

the british accent of today was actually started by rich people in Wales in the esrly 1800s and caught on over the years
