Will Chris Christie run for President in 2016?
When everything is said and done, he'll tell the people all that have on me is a bridge closing. Not really scandal material unless it's a slow news period. The media at its tabloid worst.
He'll run. He won't get the nomination but he'll try.
I think he's still got a great shot. This scandal will blow over if nothing else is uncovered, and the social conservatives/Tea Party voters will split their votes among multiple candidates; all moderates will back Christie.
He doesn't have a chance in hell. He is a candidate that the liberal media is promoting to set the Republican Party up for failure again with another frickin moderate Republican. Southern Republicans and Libertarians will never vote for Christie.
IDK tired of this question
I think many assume he will run. I don't know if one has specifically worded like this, although I could be wrong.
well then don't waste time replying to it.
The time was not wasted I made a point you responded
I hope he does, and I hope he gets the nomination. People can b*tch about how McCain and Romney were "moderates," but once they had made it through the primaries ... How exactly were they moderate?!
They were only moderates when they lost; talk radio and Fox News loved them when they were running against a democrat
Romney was conservative enough for me to support him throughout the primary.
Moderate, part of romneys problem was his flip flopping. One view as governor, now supposedly changed. People aren't that stupid. Christie has flip flopped, too. So, do I trust Christie to keep a view after elected? No.
Yeah, but a lot of the flip-flopping occurred when you compared him to the early 90's. He became more conservative throughout his public service. I think bridge gates will tarnish Christie's reputation for 2016. Scott Walker 2016!
That's true, but I think that Romney wins that election if he has a track record of being pro-choice and pro gay rights ... Now it's a totally valid thing to say that doesn't matter to you, but I still think a socially liberal Republican would win.
I honestly do not think social issues made a significant difference in the general. If Sandy was postponed a couple of weeks and if he never made his 47% comment, he would probably be President Romney. Romney had strategy problems.
Which states do you think republicans would have won if it weren't for sandy/Christie?
See, I think THAT had less of an effect than people think. I actually DO NOT advocate the GOP becoming pro-choice; it's spineless to flip flop. But a pro-choice candidate would pick up women votes that might have won us PA, NH or FL.
Republicans go pro choice and I am done forever. I am a woman. So are a lot of pro life people here, and in real life.
No. But the media has already nominated him because they know he can be beat. Not conservative or liberal enough. I am hoping that Cruz Paul and Rubio are involved even Mike Stockton or Jason Chaffez.
The DNC has ads running tonight against Christie. Rather humorous.
If he does, I hope he doesn't get the nomination.
Yeah; god forbid republicans nominate a a guy that can win some northern states.
Chris Christie wouldn't win anyway.
Abo, have you been following the bridge scandal?
Here's the way it might go down: the media & impressionable independents will do nothing but love Christie during the primary & until he gets the GOP nomination, & then they'll turn on him like they did McCain and support Hillary.
The GOP does not need a moderate bully who loves hugging Obama in front of the media. We need a true conservative leader who knows how to use the bully pulpit and can inspire the country not only to elect him but also to move to the right.
But, I don't think that the media will show much love for Christie during the GOP nomination, since they've already pretty much written him off with the scandals. They may pick a different worthless GOP moderate to love instead.
If the media is so bias, why don't more conservatives start their own networks? If there is a demand for more channels like fox, I don't understand why there aren't more channels like fox.
And political, I haven't been following that story. I purposely haven't watched any television media for months but I have skimmed through it a little, I just don't care enough about Christie or New Jersey to know all the details
Abo, when you are advertising a product, it helps if you do reinforcement advertisement, meaning you advertise on TV, in the newspaper come on the Billboard come on the radio etc. Liberal media is so successful because it is one of many institutions
are dominated by the left. When the liberal media pushes an idea, it is often reinforced by popular culture, the education system, government, and other institutions that are dominated by the left.
Popular culture, education, & other institutions are dominated by the left? That's a common theme among the right; you guys are right & world is wrong. Where was this liberal media when the Iraq war was being debated? my friend might still be alive
The media is liberal. MSNBC, CBS, CNN, PBS, HLN, and ABC. And I love how even though liberals own the media, they cry because we have one news network that has a shred of conservatism.
The corporate media job is to protect the wealthy, not a political party.
Yes, and I hope he doesn't get the Republican nomination.
Because Ted Cruz would be such a better candidate... Lol
Who ever said anything about Ted Cruz?
Ever right wing blog on the Internet. who do you have in mind? I need another laugh.
Yes, blogs are talking about Ted Cruz, but nobody said anything about him here. Let's stay on subject, we're talking about Chris Christie. There's also no need to be smug, if you wanna debate, let's debate, but let's have an ounce of maturity.
Ok so that's just another way of saying you're saying no to Christie without an alternative?
I have alternatives. I just don't want to listen to you sit here and endlessly whine about them.
Smug? And immature? Wtf?
Who pissed in your Cheerios today? Look, if someone says no to someone running then I assume they have alternative. But apparently you don't so I shouldn't have replied to your thread.
Saying things like "wtf?" And "who pissed in your Cheerios?" Are examples of your immaturity and smugness in a political debate.
Scott Walker 2016!
I would like to see Nikki Haley run.
Governor of my neighboring state!
I think governors make better presidents than senators. The duties of being governor are more similar. Ex senators try to keep legislating as president and that's not what the office of president is for.
Just put him on ignore. SOH is more enjoyable that way.
Yes, SOH is more fun when you can't see users with a different opinion than you.
It's even more annoying when those with a different opinion resorts to profanity and refuses to present reason.
Oh wow. You know what? Put me ignore. I don't want sensitive conservatives reading my comments anyway.
It's not a matter of conservatives being sensitive. It's the facts that
1.) You resorted to profanity
2.) You have presented literally no facts, reason, or logic at all.
They are not our problem, they are your fault.
I won't put you on ignore because I refuse to cower as you're inviting me to. I will face and respond to opposition.
Sensitive...Hahaha. Who has time for that crap in their life? Not me.
And i like Nikki Haley too and Susana Martinez!! On the recent republican straw poll, those were my 2 picks along with Ben Carson.
Although I want to see Dr Carson to replace Sebelius.
Why would the Republicans run a Liberal?... Oh... Wait, nevermind. They put Romney up there...
They think somehow if they move left they will get more liberal voters than they lose on the conservative side.
And the illegal alien vote...
Which I don't get, because Hispanics are traditionally staunch Catholics, yet they compromise abortion views to vote for Obama?
Ask the racist Marxists at La Raza...
Let's face it, it doesn't matter. The GOP candidate will lose and we will have our first female president. Go Hillary :-(
Christie will show America how extreme and radical the modern republican has became when they call him a liberal or try to say he's not conservative enough. I honestly can't wait to for the GOP circus to come to town again.
EB you ain't doin did again
I hope Biden vs Hillary will divide the democrats, but it won't.
Republicans are more moderate than ever, that's why they're falling apart. Republicans are not extremists.
SCOTT WALKER 2016
I kinda agree MJ.
YES! Scott Walker is the man!
I hope not, don't like him gotta be better options out there
He's liberal enough to get the GOP spot.
Which will cause the GOP to lose the national election...again.
Yes. They don't get it though.
Well, we are "they" or we should be.
Late, we can't keep surviving in the electoral college without winning 1) minority voters and 2) some Northern states ... To do both, we must become more moderate on social issues. Can't survive on Southern and Western states. Period.
Moderate. I won't get into this with you. You lost FL. You lost NC in 2008. You are NOT going to win northern states yet you are willing to give up southern ones. Romney couldn't even carry his own freakin state.
His own state is the most liberal in the nation ... There's absolutely zero reason we shouldn't be carrying states like New Hampshire and Pennsylvania and making states like Maine, Michigan and Connecticut more competitive. Northern voters...
... aren't as culturally conservative, and we're scaring them off. We need to change that. Who gives a damn if we're winning Mississippi?? It's not worth it. Let's go ahead and dare the South to vote Dem and make an effort to win big states.
You hate the south I know. Why don't you just change parties. CT is 58% liberal. You aren't going to win it. You had ohio nc and Fl. Lost them and will keep losing them with moderates.
Uh, why don't you switch parties? I don't hate the South at all! I've had great visits there. Beautiful area with friendly people. However, appealing too much to cultural conservatives in the South and other areas alienates voters elsewhere...
... The Democrats learned the hard way (from 1860-1932) what relying too much on Southern votes will get you: tons of lost elections. We need to be a national party, and we can't write off entire regions like the NE, and that includes the South.
I have practically already left the Republican Party. Unfortunate after 35 years. The first time we have a pro abortion or pro gay marriage candidate, I am done.
I strongly encourage you to stay, as it's my firm belief that as long as you're fiscally conservative - our party's mantra since the beginning - you are a "true" Republican. But I understand if you have serious issues with compromise on those issues.
True republicans who believe in small government would leave the social issues to states. And those 2 issues are my turning point. I will choose to not vote over compromising my values.
Same here. That's why I gave up on them. They think the way to win is simply to become more like the Democrats.
Yep swj. The Republican Party has left me as far as I am concerned. I haven't changed.
I had a very long conversation with our Tallahassee mechanic just before the 2012 election. Their entire congregation was boycotting and not voting at all because of Romney. I was really surprised at the time because I have never not voted.
Moderate, you voted in the recent straw poll?
On the RNC's website?
No, it was through email. A pick 3 straw poll. Had about 18 choices.
I think I saw it linked on Facebook and yes, I did do it. Needless to say, you wouldn't approve of my picks. ;)
I picked Susana Martinez. Nikki Haley and Ben Carson.
I voted for Christie, Martinez and Huntsman I think. But I really like Nikki Haley, and I have serious reservations about another Bush on the ticket.
Well see, we do agree on a couple. And another Bush...no way!
After the Christie scandals, I'm just not enthusiastic about any of our candidates. I think Martinez could be an exceptionally strong candidate vs. Hillary.
Have you seen a site called On the Issues?
We need to capture the Hispanic vote through a strong conservative voice who can explain conservative values. Not through jumping on the left amnesty bandwagon. That's why I like her. Plus she's a governor, which I would prefer.
Probably but it's going to almost impossible for him to unite the republican base.
He doesn't care. He wants the attention of running.
If he makes an ass out of his accusers Like the witch hunting democrats and the NYT he could run. He's was a procecutor for many years, put away a lot of democrats in NJ. He know how to conduct a vendetta.
I do think he will energize the conservative base when he criticizes liberal media sources.
If he bites his index finger or salutes under his nose you will know it's on!
He's already wrote a scathing letter to the times!
I think the bridge gate scandal will force him to run. I think many New Jersey people (liberals) will be angry at him. He probably will feel like he has a better chance of becoming President than Governor.
