Do you have a key hidden somewhere outside in case you lock yourself out of your house?

Why does your name make me think you're a meth addict?

We have a coded lock on our front door. That way the house is locked, but the kids can get in without having to worry about a key!

3 cars with garage openers, along with one on the door. And also my keys so I dont really have a need for one

We got very expensive commercial locks that are stronger than the door frame and use patented multi axial and other features. This is great for stopping criminals. However, we had to register our name, address and key in a national registry. Go figure.

No, I don't feel comfortable with that. My sister and best friend have extra keys.

@mklanne ...If you live in rural Texas you can. The doors to our house are NEVER locked and the keys live in the ignition to my car.

Whoever said that's stupid, you don't know me or my home...there have never been attempts to break in.

I have done it so many times. Also with kids you Always have a spare key incase the little s#it decides that day he doesn't want any toys or sweets after dinner.

I imagine the only reason more in VT didn't say yes is because they may hardly ever lock their doors to begin with. And unlike in TX, you can actually get away with that kind of thing here. :)

Most times I don't even look the doors (my house is protected by an attack cat).

I used to live in a place where I never locked the door. Even where I live now ... sometimes (not often) have left the garage door up all night.

VAteach, thanks for the info but at two batteries in 10 years, I think I'm doing okay, and if I leave them there, I always know where they are.

ours is in our garage, but the pad that opens the garage door is broken and no one seems to be able to fix it. so I always have to carry my keys on me anyway since I can't open the garage from the outside.

I can't lock myself out of my house. I live in a condo & can only lock the door with the key.

Leaving your key in your cars ignition will drain your battery. Regardless of how safe it is, it isn't smart!

We've had enough lapses of memory that we've locked ourselves out more than 5 times in the past few years. Quite annoying. Especially when you lock the car keys inside too!

omnitarian....I would imagine not!! Of course people in the country don't only have the lack of neighbors working for them. In rural Texas even the Democrats are armed ...take it from an armed left of center but independent ...

In the country that's par for the course, but I was impressed when I briefly lived in an urban hood where ppl used to leave their cars running on the street unattended. Proving once again that there is no safer neighborhood than a Brooklyn mafia neighborhood... Ppl don't commit crime on made guys.
