I'm in the gun trade and regardless how much we expand, the demand is not being met. I am both elated for this good fortune, and measured. I recognize what a 'double-edged sword' this is, societally.

Though I had three different jobs at the beginning of the year until the end of summer, I had to take my first of many student loans out. I still hold one of those part-time jobs for when I come home on breaks, so I'm making money, but I am now in debt.

RJ your sycophantic Obama cheerleading makes me nauseous. Do you have any self respect at all? You can't honestly tell me that ANYTHING is working well in this country any more. Open your eyes already.

Still not making ends meet. Wouldn't even have a roof over my head if not for my hubby. Lost everything three years ago, house, car and great job, thanks to a car accident. Subsequent health problems have been piling up; but I keep pushing myself.

Federal employees of all kinds average higher pay than their private sector counterparts, even after the freezes. Tens of thousands of dollars of waste is insignificant compared both to the deficit, and to the savings of cutting federal pay and positions.

Happy New Year and... live long and prosper all of you.
I know I'm 10 minutes early but have to watch that conch shell dropping.

I'd gladly return my COLA if I thought it could help someone in need or that the federal government would do some good to the budget with it, but that is never going to happen regardless of wage rates, so Id like my tiny raise

Weve already been on hiring and wage freezes for years, many employees dont make very much at all...why dont they try to cut the tens of thousands of dollars in meaningless waste first?

Pretty much the same income, but bought a house and let some investments build up so I would say yes.

I am a federal employee and I dont make 1/4 of congress, and its a cost of living increase of not even $300 per year, the first in years, so Im glad I could ruin your political day.

Yes. My husband has been working his tail off. Now it's looking like its not going to matter. Taxes and health care are going up. (Our health care was $600 a month for crappy insurance and its going up to $720 with even worse benefits). Glad hard work still pays off in the good ol' US of A.

RJ most of it is in a managed fund that tracks the S&P500. The rest is in ETFs that track the markets, VIG, VEA, and VOO, but also some oil VLO, TSO, and a real clunker, CVX. Some steadies, WMT and AMZN, and a lagging hopeful, Z. I play just enough at trading for it to be interesting. Mostly ETFs.

Couldn't sell first house, HAD to buy a new one. Now we have two........and almost a half million in debt, but we are killing this landlord game for reals! Not fond of the extra stress though.

how did the POTUS and a political party keep you from earning more money this year?
was it because you placed a bet on the election results?
