Do you think George Washington would be proud of what his nation has gone on to become? (UserQ)
But not for much longer if we don't clean up our act.
We're still here. I think that counts for something.
He was the one to warm us of political parties in his farewell speech. Of he saw what the partied are now, he would jump off his own monuement
NO WHY!! He would be as ashamed as me and god are. We are WAY to liberal and especially GAY! I have a feeling the end is coming soon with how corrupt and did I mention how GAY our nation is
he wouldnt understand how life works now
no. because theres YOLO....
Yes and no... Certain things would ashame him and certain things would pride him greatly.
He'd throw-up all over Obama
The country yes the society less so
Beyond all of this, to ask anyone 18th century American mind to even comprehend the America we live in today is a stretch. At any rate, Washington would be proud of the free market nation he created but not the social welfare state it has become.
My far left professor admitted to my class that the founding fathers never envisioned the social welfare state that we have today. Washington, regardless of whether he was deist or Christian or some sort of moderation, would be appalled at the anti-religious sentiment in this country.
Anyone who says "yes" to this poll is a terrible student of history. For one, Washington hated the idea of political parties and was libertarian in that he believed we should not get involved in foreign affairs; we do both of those things...
Of course he would be proud! Are you kidding? When he passed away, America was a weak, fledging country in the middle of nowhere. We've abolished slavery, empowered women, quadrupled in size, and lead the world in every discipline, including science, innovation military, business, and freedom
@CAR who the heck do you think you are? George Washington started this country. without him, where would we be? shut your mouth and think before you go around our nation's founder.
Yes and no. Proud of its economic growth and resistance to foreign influence. Sad for its growth of government, high taxation and loss of freedom, morality and virtue.
No! We are not "free" we are indebted to China up the ying yang!!
Do we really care what Washington would think??
I think Abe Lincoln would be particularly upset
Democrats are kidding themselves if they think he would be proud of this mess... He would prob tell them all to quit being a bunch of bitches and get a job...
"we're over 15 trillion dollars in debt?" wait, exactly how much is that with inflation?"
"Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master." George Washington
I think him and ALL his contemporaries would completely freak out, maybe even become ill, at how this country's Supreme Court has applied the Constitution over the last century.
@Responsible he was saying how Washington would feel. And he is probably right.
@Responsible. Remember, back in the 1700's their attitudes towards blacks were ALOT different then they are today..and women could not vote. And I think Washington freed his slaves at one point
George Washington didn't believe in the party system. I think he would be disappointed in that aspect, since today you only count if you're hard left or hard right, otherwise you aren't fairly represented.
"Wait a minute, there are no slaves?! And women are equals?! And the blacks too?!" - George Washington
DeepCover ... and Washington would be correct in labeling you as a bitter racist who hates this country.
If the Founders saw the US today they might just break down and cry. $15 trillion in debt, a central bank, indefinite detention, endless wars, wiretapping, kill lists, redistribution of wealth, TSA, drug war, SCOTUS "interpreting" the Constitution how they want, President w/ unlimited power, etc...
Oh, dems. You make me lol.
I love how everyone ignored the comment that deepcover put. GW is a racist hypocrite that raped black women? Dude move to north korea or somethin. Shite...
I think he'd hunt down and seek out jimmie from the 'show me state'.
He'd also beat the sh*t out of carter, woody wilson, FDR, and obama
Hed be happy that were the best country ever but when he sees cali he would weep for a day straight, but thats ok because its a state thats stupid and not the whole country. He would scream and be pissed with the big gov. and he wouldnt like medicare, medicade, socialized medicine & income tax
He would be sad.
When he would first look at it he'd be like "damn, this country turned out to be the strongest country in the world, and I was a major part of that". Of course he'd be proud! We live like kings!!!
But if he'd take a longer look at things, he'd be disappointed in how things are run
@cewsproduc what freebies? I must be missing out!
I don't think he'd care about slavery. To him, slaves were just a tool. Like a hammer. (not being mean just honest)
He hated political parties interference with Europe and the national bank is gone
Overall, looking at the big picture, George Washington would be very proud!
He'd be especially happy to see his face on the one dollar bill.
Well, we know now that 24% of the nation are idiots
Deffinatly not! Slavery is illegal now.
I don't think he'd do well with the political correctness, we all get a trophy crap that we've become.
I think he'd be pissed that pot is illegal
Not a chance he'd be disgusted by the corruption of political parties. Super pacs, special interests, & pork projects have made our political system a JOKE
He would be disgusted that blacks & women can vote. The hypocrite would be disgusted that the constitution really means that all men were created equal. He would be disgusted that there are interracial couples. The slave owner would be disgusted that he could go to jail for raping black woman
Silly delusional democrats. George Washington was fiercely independent.
its not the color of skin he'd be upset with. its the fact we have become a socialist state with all the freebees the dems keep adding on to the national debt.
He'd probably freak out about a black president and soon to be the first Latino president.
He would vomit at the sight that is "America"!
