I used to go to a movie multiple times a week, then like once a week, then monthly, then a few times a year, then, when Covid hit, never. TV got so good, there’s no reason anymore.

See, now why would you even say a movie has an “African American theme”? Did Oppenheimer have a “White theme”? You guys are the ones obsessed with race, not us. If I movie is good, it’s just good and God Bless whoever is in the cast.
I wish you were right about the free market but Disney just never stops. Woke bomb after woke bomb but they just keep doubling and tripling down on woke. Snow Woke had to make like $600 mil to break even. It made $200 mil. What a disaster. Must be nice to just throw away billions on woke. But who knows, maybe eventually the investors will be like, “um guys, you do realize you’re not an SJW organization and you’re supposed to make money, right?” π€·πΌβοΈ

At most once a year and we go during the week never the weekend. It’s usually only a handful of people in there when we go. Only Tom Cruise type movies at this point.

We have movie club passes. And discounts for drinks and snacks. There are interesting smaller movies. And we like kids movies, comic book movies, foreign films, religious movies. Lots of variety.

Liberty- your propaganda is someone else’s truth, let the free market decide, nobody is making you go to a movie it’s a free country! Just don’t go around saying they shouldn’t make certain movies, others might enjoy

DEI- Disney seeks to be doing fine, they are opening a new park in the UAE. π¦πͺ so obviously people are enjoying their entertainment.
And see you can’t handle a movie with an African American theme, you would rather cry about it. πOppenheimer had an American theme in the 1950’s also a great movie πΏ

Not something I’ve ever done often, but I enjoy it when I do. I’d prefer to watch movies at home with friends and my animals so we can talk and have fun. But, every now and again it is fun.

They enjoy Disney’s theme parks which generate about 60% of total revenue. They use that profit to subsidize the billions lost at the box office and their failing subscription service which is $10 billion in the hole. Trust me, people are NOT enjoying their entertainment. But live in unicorn land I guess. π¦ π
As for Sinners, let’s try this again & stay on topic:

Every single time I have a discussion about something, in this case something as innocuous as movies, some lefty always turns it racial while calling ME the racist one. It’s utterly bizarre and points to some underlying issues they are projecting onto others.

Except they won’t. They make so much damn money off the parks they treat the movies like a public works project they’re willing to lose money on to spread wokeness far and wide. The DEI woke mind virus is so engrained in their workplace culture they can’t help themselves. Literally the most amazing example of brand suicide.

DEI- well all except Barbie did poorly I believe, Barbie was actually a huge hit. But that’s the free market, if people don’t like a movie people won’t see it. But there are plenty of movies that do well! Sinners with an African American theme is knocking out of the park( excellent movie btw) but most movies aren’t really “woke” at at all Final Destination and 24 years later are two movies I am looking forward to! Both horror movies πΏ ππ

I ran a movie theater in my late teens, took a lot of the luster out of it for me.
Particularly when I had to watch the movies I wasnt interested in at all, before the opening weekend to make sure the print was good and put together properly π€£

I believe movements and figures like Obama, #MeToo, ANTIFA, BLM, DEI, Disney, Democrats, and Hillary have ruined movies. Talented actors and writers who were right for their roles were replaced to meet diversity or ideological quotas, leading to a decline in quality. Without saying no to unreasonable demands like we have been laying down for means we’re never going to see good movies again.

I certainly understand your concern. I skip garbage.
Illuminations makes great kids movies. Angel Studios makes great Christian movies. Tom Cruise makes great action movies. Some foreign films are good. And sometimes Hollywood makes a good film.

Definitely! We go all out these days if there is a movie we want to watch. All the chairs are recliners so we get to stretch out.
And if it isn't a kids movie...we sit in the adult section with drinks and delivered food. π
