I don’t think chickens are though, chickens are fun if you have a little space and don’t mind having to at least feed them everyday. Even in a neighborhood it’s possible, hens aren’t very loud. I would not have any roosters at all if I have neighbors nearby.

I’m another proponent of woodworking. Furniture making is useful and not usually too demanding skill-wise. It’s not too hard to create a piece yourself that is loads better than what you’d find at a local furniture store.
About a year ago I started making stringed musical instruments and am having a blast with that.

I knitted some chunky blankets for family a few years back that were a hit. Big needles, single stitch, easy to learn on YouTube. If it’s something you are interested in and get into, there are also lots of organizations that do things like hats for cancer patients to keep your hands busy between personal al projects.

I did a lot of fishing as a kid, but I found I’m too fidgety to do it long term. I need the ability to get up and pace and move around.

Photography, not phone but real and learn to do it right. You will see things you have never seen before by learning a new way to look at the world and appreciate beauty in places you would never expect

I would suggest photography, you don’t need a bunch of money to get started and there is always more to learn.
Woodwork is also a great hobby

That would be incredible as I love doing small day trips for hikes and nature walks. As of right now I don’t have the time to do that, but it’s something I’d love to get prepare for and do within a couple of years.

There are real good entry level packages from Nikon or Canon @600 usd, they come with 2 or 3 lenses. I would also recommend the Photoshop Elements, it normally @$100 usd

Painting. Take a class at an art studio and see what you think. One of my great-nieces did this and found she loved it and has improved her own technique and how she “sees” things.
Dog training for persons that need medical-support companions.
Container gardening if you don’t have a yard.
Cooking - pick a type you like, French/Italian/Asian/African/etc etc and learn to perfect the style.

Something I’ll definitely have to look into. Thank you for letting me know. It gives me a good starting point.
