You could learn a foreign language. There are lots of apps that can help. It's especially good if you like to travel.
If you find something you really like, join meetup. They have groups for almost everything. Here's a link to UK meetups.

It’s hard to share a hobby with you without knowing what you’re interested in. If you do social media, I would follow a few people or groups involved with your interests. If it gets you excited, you know you’re there. If not, it’s okay to default to your current favorites. For me, at the moment, it’s desserts. Before, it was second language.

The hard part is realizing that the thing you can’t get enough of is something that you can actually teach yourself to do. The resources are there if you can figure out what gets you excited.

Go into small business. You won’t make any money, but your hobby has a 50-50 shot at paying for itself! 😱

I can’t do that yet. My visa doesn’t allow me to be self employed or run a business as a student.

I have a condition that makes things like yoga very difficult as my joints slip out. Do you have any suggestions for that?

sanstarr

Yoga is all about starting slow until you develop strength and agility. I’m a newbie myself and I’m sure I look goofy most of the time, but I’ve learned so much and my body is transforming itself with each class I take. I only do what I can do without it hurting. But I’m finding I can do way more than when I started two months ago!

playing a musical instrument but i'm very biased, honestly i think any kind of art form is a great hobby but it's not for everyone, this can be music, art, writing, cooking, singing or anything in between

You could make cheese at home. It’s funny you can get quite a variety. I would imagine you could probably get some Irish milk and milk from other countries too. The quality of the soil makes a difference. Sourdough bread is another thing that’s fun. My climate , Oregon coast, it’s very similar to that of England. Day hikes. If the calories would allow I would like to try out different kinds of chocolate too.

Do you have a heat press, or did you just use an iron? It just iron, did they last or start peeling up at the edges?

ElSrLimon
03/01/20 10:48 am

My wife uses just an iron, but swears it’s the quality of the vinyl which keeps them from peeling the longest. Buy good vinyl.

Just got a heat press but I did use an iron. Your shirt has to be laundered. And no fabric softener.

@UKGuy
You might consider 3D wood Carving using a 3D router & computer software. You could start small for less than 1/30th of the cost of the Polo pony, suggested by @GlockMan1 or less than $5k.
The links below are a few of the 3D pieces I have done.

I knitted some chunky blankets for family a few years back that were a hit. Big needles, single stitch, easy to learn on YouTube. If it’s something you are interested in and get into, there are also lots of organizations that do things like hats for cancer patients to keep your hands busy between personal al projects.

I’m another proponent of woodworking. Furniture making is useful and not usually too demanding skill-wise. It’s not too hard to create a piece yourself that is loads better than what you’d find at a local furniture store.
About a year ago I started making stringed musical instruments and am having a blast with that.
