For those who were involved in committing any genocide, can anything truly make up for those crimes against humanity?

If they TRULY accept that what they did was wrong and attempt to give back everything they can for the community. No one but themselves can know for sure if they can reach this.

Why has the Vatican failed to restore its treasures from World War II to their rightful owners.

Make up? No. Restitution. Yes . Genocide was an active decision on nearly everyone's part. Punishment so participants and observers do not ever repeat. Restitution so that those who benefited from the crimes partially restore property.

No one has anything against restitution to victims. I was meaning the perpetrators of genocide though

Sorry, I misunderstood your questions.

There are no human activities/behaviors that can provide restitution for some actions.

No. Sometimes what's done is done and there's no way to make it ok.

Depends on the extend of the involvement. If they had a significant role in giving orders etc. then no. If they were forced to participate and the alternative was death, then I can accept restitution.

I don't believe that you can add and subtract good and bad deeds. The only way to make up for your actions is to feel terrible about committing them.

I feel like that helps some... but we're not letting serial rapists and mass murderers out of prison because they're super sorry they ever harmed another person.

What reason do you have for holding them if they have been rehabilitated?

It can be done. But the offender must do a lot of serving humanity.
