In 2014, the highest percentage of pregnancies were aborted in the District of Columbia (38%), New York (33%), and New Jersey (30%). Regardless of your feelings about a woman's right to choose, are you even at least a little alarmed by these numbers?

I wish there was a pull a man could take before sex that would prevent the women from not getting pregnant . Then men would have a choice

Astounding and appalling.
It concerns me that these folks have so little regard for life and personal responsibility.

You can whine about abortion but it’s never going to go away. No one is “pro” abortion. People are pro safe abortion. Would you Rather the number of fetuses aborted be high or the amount of women dying from back alley abortions be high? Y’all are always worried about the wrong shit but no ones worried about anyone’s lives after they’re born.

33% of pregnancies in NY result in abortion, and you don't see anything wrong with that? Wow.

Almost 500000 children in the foster system and you don’t see a problem with that? And that number would be way higher if there were 0 abortions.

So go ahead and kill them too, right? What's the difference?

The point is you can’t gripe about abortion if you don’t provide actual solutions.

KellyDimples NJ

My solution is for the 92% of them that are done for convenience to be more careful or take responsibility for their actions.

KellyDimples NJ

That same solution would also apply to the 500,000 in the foster system.

Is that a number you’ve just thrown out or is it a factual number?

The state of Florida records a reason for every abortion that occurs within its borders each year. In 2015, there were 71,740 abortions in Florida. This table lists each reason and the percentage of abortions that occurred because of it.
Percentage Reason
.001% The pregnancy resulted from an incestuous relationship
.065% The woman's life was endangered by the pregnancy
.085% The woman was raped
.288% The woman's physical health was threatened by the pregnancy
.294% The woman's psychological health was threatened by the pregnancy
.666% There was a serious fetal abnormality
6.268% The woman aborted for social or economic reasons
92.330% No reason (elective)

I was being generous and not including the 6% that did it for economic reasons.

I realize it's only one state, but 72,000 is a large enough sample size to be able to extrapolate across the entire population. Scientific polls are done with much smaller samples.

Lol so 92% either didn’t have a reason or didn’t choose to give a reason. Nice numbers

Yes, because the other side doesn't want these numbers known.

Isn’t PP “known” for giving out birth control?😏

I thought abortion was supposed to be rare, safe, and legal. These numbers don't support it being rare.

No they don't. Those arguments are designed to make the people regurgitating them feel better about their support for it.

It's amazing how people can justify such an atrocity as killing the next generation.

It really is. But people are doing it all over this app.

Not concerned at all. A lot of people don't believe in social services yet want those percentages of people born. Are we trying to increase levels of poverty and levels of children entering the foster system?

KellyDimples NJ

The lowest percentage of pregnancies were aborted in Utah (5%), South Dakota (4%), and Wyoming (<2%). Are the issues you mentioned not a problem in these places? You're not concerned that people have lost all sense of personal responsibility in these places, and are having abortions out of convenience or as a form of birth control?

Hith’s comment is a perfect example of looking only at statistical correlations and not even attempting to look at causes. These statistics tie in perfectly with Kelly’s other poll on the pattern in the party platforms. I am willing to bet that those numbers have a high correlation with single mother populations who live in poverty. I will also guess that most do not even have a high school diploma. And I’m willing to bet that they all vote Democrat upwards of 90%. The problem is that the establishment elite has pushed government dependence for years which means responsibility is not needed . Add easy abortion to that and you have created full blown societal decay. It amazes me that with such evidence in front of us that the progressives actually want more government dependence and more moral disintegration. They are like brain dead delusional zombies accelerating society towards their own destruction.

Are you suggesting that the solution to single parenting and parenting in poverty is to have more children? I'm a bit confused because I don't see how adding more responsibility and financial burden to someone that can't afford themselves and are in the brink of homelessness will help improve themselves?

Then there's also the drug abuse of America, those in extreme poverty usually get hit the hardest with drug problems, are these good scenarios to raise kids?

For those pro lifers, how do you choose between mother or fetus if the mother is high risk. What about rape? If life is so important why do many prolifers say abortion is ok for rape? Sounds like cherry picking.

Seems contradictions are on both sides. So here's a thought, how about we just let people decide what is best, you dislike abortion so you don't, its not a moral issue for you then go ahead.

Yes, those numbers are from Florida. But 72,000 is a large enough sample size to make an assumption that it is fairly representative of the larger population. Scientific polls do it every day with much smaller samples.
You choose to concentrate on the less than 2% which are done for health or rape/incest reasons. Even if I give you the 6% that did it for social or economic reasons, that still leaves over 92% that did it out of convenience.
If 1/3 of all pregnancies in New York result in abortion, and 92% of those are done out of convenience, and you don't see a problem there, then we really have nothing left to talk about.
