Excellent summation! Turkey has always been unpredictable, but now that it is a Muslim dictatorship, I am not comfortable with them in NATO!

I don't blame Obama for this one. I'm happy that late in the Obama administration and even more so now under the Trump administration that we are no longer acquiescing to every unreasonable Turkish demand. For too long we've been forced to deny Turkish atrocities, abandon our Kurdish allies, and ignore their worsening authoritarianism. Turkey has a strategic location and it has been generous with its resettlement of Syrian refugees, but at a certain point we have to acknowledge that our interests are simply not aligned.
