Do you know how to drive a standard transmission vehicle (stick shift) ?
It's what I learned on
I taught myself when I was 15. I had a pretty good idea what I was doing since I grew up racing motorcycles. I actually miss driving a stick...
Can't drive one but I'd like to learn.
I have never owned an automatic car. All of my cars have been standard Hondas. Currently driving a six-on-the-floor Civic Si. Books!
To-be-husband had just purchased brand new standard transmission car before we started dating. Told me he'd teach me to drive it or I could walk or buy a bike, but he wasn't getting rid of the car. I learned to drive. Until left knee issues, prefer.
Taught daughter to drive w/standard tranny. Told it was a dance between clutch & gas, she got that & mastered it in about 10 mins! We didn't to automatics until we had 5 knees surgeries in 1 yr. (hubby-2 arthoscope; me-1 rebuild; daughter-2 rebuild)
I learned to drive using a huge hay truck with a stick shift. Could barely see over the dash, but just had to let it roll for a few feet, stop, wait for my brothers to load the bails, then pill forward again.
If I can start it, I can drive it.
I have an automatic now but I miss manual.
I learned to drive in a stick and love driving them.
I love driving stick! We still have 1 car that's a stick shift. Guess which car the kids inherit (if we're willing to give it up!)?
I remember my dad teaching me to drive a stick when I was 16 in the empty parking lot of the local mall....took me a while to get it, but then drove one for over 12 years before buying a car with automatic ...
That's pretty much my story, too.
Can I drive one? Yes.
Can I drive one well? Umm not exactly...
I have always driven stick. Automatic only for rental cars. In Denmark it used to be really rare to have an automatic. Now they are more available but still not common at all for regular cars.
I am amazed at how many of the young people that I know have never been taught how to operate a standard transmission vehicle !
I wanted a manual but the price on my truck was too good to pass up so I'm stuck with an automatic
