Do you think the poll results on SOH accurately represent the opinions of the general population?

I asked a similar question a while back, and realized that it just depends on how many followers you have.

I see a lot of people from both sides so I'd like to believe it's an accurate representation in SoH polls. But the numbers in your polls will reflect the people you follow and those who follow you, diverse or narrow as they are.

For a lot of question, it is representative. Not for the ones about owning an iPad, though.

A very specific group. Everyone on SoH is wealthy enough to afford an Ithing or smart phone.

Ohh, very good point. I didn't think about that!

In 2012 alone, between Samsung and Apple, there were over 350 million smartphones sold. That's around 1 in 20 people in the world, assuming a population of 7 billion. So yeah, I think I might agree now that I did the math.

That, and Tony mentioned in the past that Republicans / conservatives were disproportionately represented on SoH.

BCKR - glad you said that. I mentioned the same thing a week ago and Tony popped in to say the gap has closed to almost even now.

Good to know! I'll also add that wealth is not the only factor in owning a smart device. Many people just don't want one and thus get excluded regardless of income. Or they're Amish. ;)

In my opinion, it represents a specific segment of the population, but it's not inherently inaccurate as a reflection of the general population, but that's probably a bit of a stretch. I chose a specific group, though. (:

I feel the same way! I only asked because I've noticed that, for the most part, SOH users seem you be very understanding and tolerant of one another. Of course, there are still riffs, but nothing like what I read on Facebook or see in "real life."

But perhaps I just need to find new mates!

It's not just your friends... Ignorance and arrogance are widespread. I try to avoid the controversial topics, because... Well, they're controversial. I just don't want to deal with arguing with people who are unreasonable. I love SoH because most of

Off topic: have you always lived in Hawaii? :)

Agreed! That's what sparked my SOH obsession... I love intelligent, friendly debate and the people here seem to excel at that!
No, I'm actually from Arkansas originally :) My husband is military, so we're stationed out...

...here for a bit! Big improvement from AR. I don't ever want to leave!

Oh goodness! You look so young and beautiful! Congrats to you and your husband. :)
Awesome! What a great place to be stationed.

Yes, it seems like as good of a place as any! Which island are you living on? :) It's such a beautiful island. (:

It is, indeed! We're on O'ahu. I think my favorite thing about living here is the local personality and culture. The people are so unique and lovely. I'm trying to soak it all up while I have time! Have you visited any of the islands before?

MrLucchese If curious, ask.
07/03/13 12:13 pm

When I went to Hawaii, I obviously spent most of my time around the main island, but I took a private boat to the other islands with some friends. :)
Spectacular. It's really a country in it's own right.

Oh, absolutely! :) I took a helicopter on one of the days... That was so absolutely stunning as well. Too bad I didn't know you then! We all could have gone out to dinner or something, haha. Then again - awkward third wheel status right here.
