Is a sexual thought the same thing as lust?
Your are sick.
Because you hate sex?
Because you're 12 and sex is "icky"?
Or because you enjoy insulting people?
Sex is literally what leads to existence... what the hell is sick about that?
Depends on the thought itself. It can be.
Is the thought of assaulting someone the same as doing it?
According to Jesus, yes
Absolutely not, in my opinion. I have inappropriate thoughts once in a while, as does anyone, I would think. We shouldn't feel guilty unless we carry out inappropriate actions.
A sexual thought is a sexual thought and lust is lust
Are they both sins?
How the hell am I supposed to know? (And I'm voting Trump)
@mpurple - this is tough. Sexual thought can certainly lead to lust, which is a sin. The difficulty in answering is where the line crosses over to lust. I don't know the answer. So to be safe, the answer is to guard against sexual thoughts outside of about your spouse.
I find it best to not even think sexual thoughts in regard to a different woman. Getting aroused in an inappropriate situation could only lead to trouble.
I don't understand why we fight human nature so adamantly. There's a huge difference between thoughts and actions; I would never resent or criticize my partner for being attracted to someone else.
