Should I buy the $1 tickets with double the chance of winning, or should I buy the $2 tickets and have half the tickets but double the money on whatever I win?
Spend 3 bucks and get both.
Neither. Go buy a soda or something so you know you'll get something in return.
Buy a $1. If you win, that many more $1. Then you buy a $2 if you win again. Then you have a shot at $2, and spend $1.
Ahh see you're playing big ones. I was thinking scratch off.
I wouldn't buy any at all, myself.
$1.00 tickets. Good luck rota!
IMO, less is better when it comes to playing the lottery; unless its for a good cause . . . its still a win, even if you lose!
I'd spontaneously say $1. The overall chances are even but you save a buck per ticket buying them.
$1 is mega millions. $2 is the powerball.
If that helps any I was thinking 1 dollar too.
OK, next try: You get either x tickets with one chance to win big $$, or x/2 with a half chance to win twice as big $$. That still means the $2 tickets are disadvantageous because you get fewer PLUS a smaller chance.
That's where the hard math comes in. What is 5 more 1/235,000,000 of a chance compared to just 5 of the 1/30 $10 prizes that could land me 20 and repay my lottery play money.
It's hard, :/
Ah it's just simple simplifying fractions, why did I not know that? *facepalm*
