On this date, 1400, the Father of English Literature, Geoffrey Chaucer died of unknown causes. This date, however, is disputed because it's only source is his tombstone which was erected over a century after his death.
"Whan that Aprille with its shoures soote/
The droghte of March hath pérced to the roote,/
And báthed every veyne in swich licour/
Of which vértu engendered is the flour..."
