I just walked into a business. The front was empty & their is $100 on the counter. I didn't take it. A minute later the clerk came in, said it was fake, that they were testing their clientele. Have you did the right thing when no one was looking?

I always do the right thing, especially when no one is looking.

Like I said, I'm not sure, but I think it has something to do with implying that their customers are untrustworthy. I prob wouldn't have been so mad if the clerk hadn't told you they were testing their customers. It feels unethical.

I understand. Up to the point when i remember that some would have or did take the fake money. But if it were real money and they were calling the police i wouldnt like it either. To much like entrapment.

The show "brain games" had an experiment like that except with a bucket with money in it labeled " free money". When no one was at the booth they took way more money than when the booth was manned or when a giant pair of eyes board was hung up.

I'm not sure why, but the fact that this business did that makes me mad.

Just imagine the look on someones face who stole the fake money then gets caught trying to unknowingly use counterfeit money. "I swear officer i didn't know it was fake, i just stole it from a store"!

What kind of business was it?
It's usually bad business to play "gotcha" with your customers.

An industrial supply shop. Not your average retail place. They said that they are not trying to stop or call out anyone who takes the fake money. They wanted stats on what percentage of customers would steal if given the opportunity.

Im order to more realistically gauge what kind of security measures they may need to take
