Which will be remembered as the bigger blunder by the Coca-Cola company?, the 1985 "New Coke" fiasco, or the 2014 multicultural version of "God Bless America"?
It is ridiculous that this is even a controversy. We are a multicultural, multilingual society. Nothing wrong with that!
Scary brown people! They don't speak English! HIDE THE CHILDREN!
Absolutely love the God bless America one last night. It was among my favorites.
Coke ads have gone down. Maybe good ideas have run out. Also yogurt ad with John Stamos not cool. Kids were watching.
It was cute until he dropped it in his lap, then it became SoHAH...
It wasn't right. Kids watch sb till the last second. Why does everything have to be sexed up.
To make kids into little beibers and cyrus'... :(
Are you peeping through my window now? Im tweaking as i write this.
Damn... Now that I'd love to see ;)
I thought I saw a shadow..maybe its the groundhog?
Wait... Was that tweaking or twerking? lol
Like I would know. Im in the middle of a blizzard here.
That wasn't God Bless America. It was America the Beautiful ("Oh, beautiful! For spacious skies. . ."). God Bless America begins, oddly enough, with the words "God bless America, land that I love!" :o)
I stand corrected. Thank you for pointing it out.
BNA - no sweat - I sing the National Anthem and God Bless America frequently for local baseball games, so I happened to notice. Good poll! :o)
After seeing that commercial, I'm abandoning coke products.
It came off like the 2006 Nuestro Himno. The Star Spangled Banner in Spanish. I know (hope) it was meant to unify, but it seemed to me to highlight people not caring enough to learn the language of the country they immigrate to.
Im not buying cars and investing in a horse and buggy
I really enjoyed both but I loved the coke one the best.
Never heard of the first one so I'll go with the second, even though I don't find it offensive.
The first one involves Coke discontinuing the original Coke and substituting "new" Coke based on some taste tests. The uproar was so great they had to bring it back as Coke Classic.
Ahh thanks for sharing (:
New Coke. No contest.
How was the modern version a blunder?
I don't get it either MrL.
I didn't find it particularly offensive myself either. However, there's been quite a bit of buzz concerning the song since it aired. If it does in fact cause a decline in sales of Coke products, you can bet that Coca-Cola will view it as a blunder.
