Inspired by Scotty: Prices for various procedures can vary drastically depending on the hospital, hundreds of thousands of dollars in some cases. Do you believe that hospitals should print the prices of operations so consumers can shop competitively?

I'm honored! Yes, why does capitalism seem to work wonders in every other industry, but somehow healthcare is different? The price system isn't allowed to communicate supply and demand up the chain when costs are unknown.

I just watched the SoHoA and found that enlightening. Clinics and specialties should do the same

Yes - or better yet - all hospitals should go together and negotiate as a huge group for supplies and equipment and really get prices down - wait - that would be too much like socialism

Goods & services should have reasonable concrete prices that reflect *reasonable* overhead expenses. Regardless industry. I choose which grocery or department store to patronize based on prices charged.

An appendectomy costs a specific amount to perform. Medications cost a specific amount. Medical supplies have finite cost. I don't have issue w/making a profit but med $ aren't reasonable or defensible.

Oh yes, this is one of those things you'll probably find overwhelming support for, but for some reason will never happen.

Prices should be set & known before services performed. We can thank Gov, attorneys, & insurance for skyrocketing costs & lack of transparency.

For once Scotty, I whole-heartedly agree. That's the real secret to solving rising healthcare costs.

Great idea, but no. Maybe on basic constants like X-rays or general check ups but NOT emergency or needed procedures.

People would be less likely to have those needed ER procedures if they knew the cost.
