Deja Vu: Past life experience, or mind tricks?
I experienced Deja Vu today. I believe it means that I'm on the right path again.
Déjà vu for me is more like it dream something & later that scene happens & I recall having dreamt it. That doesn't really fit either answer.
It's actually other universes over lapping with our own at the moment that similar events are happening in both. What, you didn't know that? Jeez.
I believe in God. I have experienced déjà vu. It's a weird momentary I have been here, although I know I have never been here feeling. How does that negate God?
That's what I believe too :-)
It's the mind trying to force experience A2 into experience A1's pigeonhole. They're similar, so the brain tries to save space by making them identical.
cowboy in the house!
I'd say is just the brain drawing a comparison to a similar experience from the past.
Not an exciting answer, I know... :-p
Not that I can recall, but typing this post right does seem very familiar to me. Wait!!!
Thank you, Rob! You're kind of the deep thinker I was trying to attract.
I know it's my brain playing tricks on me.
I'm not even sure what that's supposed to mean.
Now that was funny.
What happens if you're left handed? Do you have jamais vu?
RJ. Is that corpus thing near the hubris? I'm told that I've got hubris.
Didn't we talk about this exact same thing last week?
Coincidence that the party that believes in go also believes in déjà vu? I don't think so...
I dream...stupid autocorrect!
Okay, duly chastised :)
Geez, common! We all know about the corpus colosum, right?
Far too votes to make a statistical correlation! Let's see what happens when some more votes come in.
I've read that the brain jumps ahead using it's logical side to predict what will happen and many times it's correct.
You only live once. No recycling of our lives.
Never experienced it.
So, the brain is using compression techniques like a computer? Interesting.
Try RJ's answer on for size.
Well, my Nobel Prize in Neurology hasn't come through just yet, but it's at least a reasonable hypothesis, I guess. :-D
Some of each, and maybe some of extra options.
Not a past life. A parallel life. A tear in the membrane of gravity.
I read that it's like your brain shuts off for a split second and you "wake up" remembering your last vision, thinking it was a long time ago... I thought it was interesting
There are several reviews in the leading journals on this issue.
It comes down to the corpus colosum. The linkage between the right and left hemispheres.
Duly noted! However, now that we have more votes, the correlation is stronger. So, you were on the right track, statistically.
