If North Korea attacks South Korea, should the US take military action to protect it?
So long as China doesn't get involved, the South Koreans could take Pyongyang by themselves in a matter of weeks, if not days. The gap in technology (armored vehicles, missile guidance systems, etc.) is simply overwhelming. It would be like fighting a starving Soviet army straight out of the 70's.
I would never want to abandon a country that is an ally of America, but the war costs a LOT of money, and we are already much too far in debt.

True. At first thought it seems like it would be an incursion into n korea but in all reality if we dont do everything we can for s korea then we would look pretty bad.
I operated in the ROK,s Tiger division AO in the nam and unless they've let every thing go they are very capable of taking care of business. The USAF could be used destroy nuclear facilities and other priority military targets but the ROKs will kick ass.
On one hand I want to say let them do whatever they want and revert to isolationism. On the other hand I hate totalitarian gov'ts so I would say obliterate them
It's quite vexing
How could we ever justify to ANYONE not defending them! That is why we have occupied S Korea for the last 60yrs, to act as a deterrent!
However, I do believe the administration would create wiggle room for themselves, further embarrassing the American citizens! There seems to be no red line w/....
Where's the "Support North Korea" option?
This administration so it is hard to think that they(NK) would be met w/immediate and swift reaction
