Chef, author, and travel documentarian Anthony Bourdain passed away Friday at the age of 61. Were you a fan of Bourdain?
So much for the conservative conversation on mental health
Great storyteller and I have enjoyed all iterations of his travel/food shows. Too bad depression got the best of him. I feel most for his close friend who found him this morning Eric Rupert and his 11 year old daughter.
Yes, this was a real shock to me. Not only did I enjoy his shows, I admire that he climbed his way up to a chef, starting as a dishwasher. He will be missed. RIP.
Huge fan. Parts Unknown was my favorite show.
Good point - that’s the reason whatever happens to you won’t bother me in the least. You’re just a random SOH user, not a friend.
This was a very selfish comment. He was very depressed and hurting inside. Committing suicide is the last this people resort to. I bet you would feel the same if you were in his shoes.
He was awesome. His show was awesome. I’ve told a lot of people to watch it. The guy has literally walked into war torn countries to sit down over a meal with regular people and get a perspective you wouldn’t get anywhere else. I’ve been surprised how similar people are regardless of their culture or where they’re from from watching his show. Sad to hear he’d want to kill himself.
Just because you’re cynical doesn’t mean others have given up their idols. Pretentious drivel on your part
There are alot of great people in this world that you don’t have much use for then.
He was not a selfish coward. Depression is a horrible thing but it was not his fault.
If you want to get technical and non-enotional with it, fine. I personally still lost something - my all time favorite TV show (Anthony Bourdaine: Parts Unknown).
The problem is that mental illnesses are so highly stigmatized that nobody believes anyone when they say they need help.
I couldn't give a shit about Bourdain, Kate Spade or Charles krauthammer. people die, we didnt know them personally stop pretending like you lost something.
Wow. What an insensitive comment. You are absolutely entitled to it but most often, by the time a person decides to commit suicide, they are already far gone and not within their right mind. Many times they feel they are actually relieving their loved ones.
About 14 years ago, a friend stalked Anthony Bourdain in a D.C. hotel and got him to sign a copy of his cookbook for me. My favorite quote from the book: "If you haven't made bearnaise from scratch before, you will surely f*ck it up. Don't worry. Just do it again." I was fresh out of culinary school and thought it was brilliant. 😔
Depression does not equate to clearness
No. But sometimes, depression can be very lonely and isolating. The pain becomes too much to bear.
RIP Anthony, you will be missed
The selfish coward left his 11 year old daughter behind.
You would know that if you bothered to look at your app today. Lazy asses.
He didn’t pass away, the coward killed himself
Big fan :( poor guy
Damn autocorrect. *cowardliness
People who commit suicide are selfish cowards and deserve no respect for destroying their family.
I look up to Anthony Bourdain. I also kinda expected him to off himself at some point. He had a dark side.
My parents and my friends
No, but it still highlights the mounting suicide problem yet again.
You could always turn off the TV. He was a writer and a chef.
I clearly said I don’t believe in Hell, so he is no where. And fine I don’t know you, so think of me as you like. Have a great day.
I guess he couldn’t overcome his problems anymore than your urge to be a douchebag
I don’t believe in hell either. It’s the assertion that’s harsh and disrespectful. I’ll go back to my good day now.
Never have any respect for anyone selfish enough to take away such a precious gift as life. To be so selfish to not only themselves but the family left behind to deal with their actions of doing such a thing. If I believed in a hell I would hope he’s in it... but their isn’t so he’s just gone. Another reason life should be cherished and not wasted as he did. This is just my opinion since it was asked, others may feel different, that’s fine.
Think of the children!
Even if it was my favorite show it's still just a show,he's not a friend.
I said GREAT not good!
Do you really only care about yourself, Jenna?
From what I heard about the guy, good riddance.
Well unless you’ve come home with your mom to see your father in a pool of his own blood, your ignorant opinion means nothing.
No. So who do care about?
Sorry if I have no respect for someone whom does this to themselves. Like is a gift if they choose to waste it of course their decision, does not mean I have to like the decision they made to waste it, if someone’s opinion differs that is your right to have that opinion.
I didn't even know who he was. He wasn't a videogame designer, nor a famous Boxer or Basketball Player, nor even a cute actress or singer. I simply had no use for him.
So you’re fine. What is the problem?
Not my problem.
I’ve heard of him, but never saw any of his shows or such.
What happened is still tragic.
I have no respect for selfish cowards.
I concur. The plan is working.
I liked him
