If there were ever a 2nd American Civil War, what do you think the reason for it would be?
The denuclerization of Alabama. They have the highest number of reported incest cases. If they can't be trusted not to have sex with their siblings they can't be trusted with nukes. But I'm sure the south will say it was over "states rights"
That seems to be the most likely scenario. That or some kind of violation of the first amendment.
Flagrant assaults on the first two amendments. Egregious, intrusive actions against individual's freedom.
I had considered that at first but I don't think the democrats would be in any position to fight a civil war.
A lose of freedom.
Basically a huge violation of the constitution. Americans have shown they do not care if a President/the government commits "mild" violations of the Constitution.
I don't think there ever would be. The only possibility I see is an attempt at a massive gun grab and that's never going to happen.
I think the most likely scenario would be either a gun grab by a President that causes (mostly) Republican states to rise up.
Lessening of personal freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution. Excessive government control and heavy taxation. Allowing any global control rather than national control of the US.
It would be funny if we finally started killing each other over abortion.
Personal liberty vs. Patriotism.
Guns, which is ironic.
Morons believing stupid shit on the internet
If it's on the left, states like California would leave due to a cultural shift which would require harsher immigration laws which would hurt the California economy.
If it's on the right, states like Texas would leave due to a cultural shift that would essentially be too liberal and they'd say "screw it. The US doesn't share our values". Guns would likely do this.
Both reasons are stupid in my opinion.
As a 2nd supporter, I believe you’re wrong, culture will change and they’ll grab, maybe not in my lifetime, maybe not the next generation, but it’ll happen.
Uh... clinics have been bombed.
It's ok that you believe I'm wrong but that doesn't mean I am. The issue is that there are plenty more 2nd supporters out here, we just don't find it necessary to mention it every day.
True. But I see what seems to be a decline in each generation of 2nd support. I’m genuinely surprised when I see a younger person show genuine interest. Hope I’m wrong, but support seems to be fading.
The irony would likely be lost in the bloodshed
Minorities’ Civil Rights
What might bring about this secession though?
Dang, I have the same dislike of Alabama as anyone, but dang... lol
Intense political division between Democrats and Republicans.
Gun ban, or massive infringement on the 1st amendment. I would like to think Americans would rise up if either of those happened, but seeing as how we have let our liberties slowly be eroded away, I'm not sure. I feel like our founders would have been shooting by now.
I think the media / industry portrays a concernable decline to keep sales flowing.
I would agree that more people are paying attention to some flaws in our laws and are searching for ways to correct them. Including the way we operate certain areas, but I see minimal to zero change in interest for an actual gun grab.
What exactly would the left fight Trump with?
Sounds about right
I don't foresee a civil war more a revolutionary war.
Income gap causing a civil war? First I've heard
States rights and/or 2nd amendment
Again I respectfully disagree, the media and the industry are two opposing propagandists.
