The US birth rate is the lowest in 30 years, do you feel this is because having children And raising them, has become too expensive? Or low morals and selfishness?
They require time and money and time is money so they require moneyx2.
Selfishness would be having a kid and not prioritizing him or her. I think if someone would rather live their life without having the responsibility of another human being that’s being nice! So my guess would be the expense part. The cost of living is really high right now and jobs that pay enough to support families are harder to find.
Blurting out crazy shit with no tangible grasp on reality isnt a virtue. If i found it admirable I would have voted for that piece of shit in the white house.
Because people like to complain. It's why you see more negative reviews of products online than positive ones. Kids are the best thing that ever happened to me, and I can't imagine my life without them. Sure they've brought times of frustration, heartache. But the good definitely outweighs the bad. And hopefully one of them will keep me out of a nursing home when the time comes.
Neither. On the whole we have become smarter and more aware over time, and most of us know that, given the greatly reduced infant mortality rate over the last hundred years, there is no need to breed like rabbits just to have enough spares. There is certainly nothing selfish or suggestive of low morals in deciding not to have kids you don’t want and nobody needs. The opposite is probably not the case.
There is a cost element, and I may be wrong, but I have seen a lot selfishness in young people. Not all, but some couldn't give a fig about anything unless it personally benefits themselves.
Also, the fertility rate has gone down a lot, I believe.
Raising children is expensive.
Usually when I hear parents talking about raising kids, they’re complaining. It sounds like a nightmare. Why does anyone do it 🤷♂️
Put cost as more of an impact but richer countries have low birth rates
I know women are putting off having children to have a successful career. Some wait until well into their 30s and experience trouble getting pregnant.
Most of my friends have one or two children. It’s very expensive. The doctor visits, the delivery, the diapers, etc.
I firmly believe that people who don’t want to have children shouldn’t be pressured by anyone to have them. Lifestyles are different today than they were in the past, and expense is a concern.
Probably a a little of both.
It’s all about “me” now
Agreed. Except Social Security wasn't supposed to be government assistance. It was supposed to be OUR money, but they stole it from us.
Keyann- I don’t think the LGBT population has gone up that much, it’s only 4 or 5%
But without enough children being born, there won't be enough new workers to sustain Social Security, Medicare, etc for the increasingly aging population.
Then we better save up, and not count on government assistance.
Kelly is correct. Sperm counts are way down in the United States. www.cnn.com/2017/07/25/health/sperm-counts-declining-study/index.html
In my day we had so much sperm it was coming out of our ears!
Money, selflessness, not a willingness to make sacrifices
OMG! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣😂love your replies!!!
Many people are waiting until they are older to have children. Maybe that’s it.
Selfishness. Kids have always cost money. It’s just a question of priorities.
It is. And a bit unnerving as well.
They kill them off before they are born.
Just abort them is a mindset now.
Abortion has less anxiety then having a tooth extracted. Yank it out is the new norm.
I do. It’s a dystopian society where women who are able to bear children are a premium.
We'll probably get to the point that there are so few fertile people, that people will buy babies, like a puppy mill.
Great answer, Casey!
Sounds interesting, shy.
Kelly - have you read The Handmaidens Tale? The book - not the show.
I blame it on video games.
I have not. Do you recommend it?
Many factors involved. I see no problem with the birthrate dropping even more. The planet has more than enough people.
