State Opinion Poll Series #6: Is your opinion of Arizona more positive or negative? In the comments section, list the things that first come to mind when you think about the Grand Canyon State?
I love State 48! My opinion of Arizona is positive. It's been my home twice. I love the friendly people, great restaurants, Grand Canyon, all of the hiking trails, the saguaros, ocotillos, desert flowers, Scottsdale rail fest, and the most amazing sunsets in the world.
Great vacation spot: P
Grand Canyon: P
Arizona Cardinals: P
Western scenic beauty: P
No beach: N
Too hot: N
We'll have plenty of beach when the big earthquake hits, and CA falls off... =P
Positive. I've been to Arizona a couple of time on road trips and I loved it. The flagstaff area is beautiful and the Grand Canyon is massive. I also like the arid heat so another plus.
Overall positive, due to the beautiful environment, but far too hot for my tastes, also a few sports teams I really don't like (D-Bags, Suns, Coyotes).
I currently live in Arizona, and my opinion of it is overwhelmingly positive. It's been my favorite state since I was a little kid. I think of saguaros, conservatarians, mountains, desert, Mormons, Sonoran hot dogs, self-reliance, freedom, guns, cowboys, the Grand Canyon, sunsets, and Barry Goldwater. As for its politics, I think of it as one of the most loyally red states in the nation. It's my heaven on earth and I'm never moving to another state again.
Oh, and I also think of the red rocks of Sedona, rattlesnakes, bobcats, scorpions, mountain lions, road runners, quail, white-winged doves, prickly pear lemonade, and Southwestern architecture.
That's where my girl and dear friend @BamaGirl is. On that alone positive.
Red. So red.
Best state in my opinion
Sadly John McCain.
Positive, but it might be a biased opinion.... =P
Definitely positive! I choose to live here!
Positive. I like places like Sedona.
Opinion of Arizona:
My second favorite state!
I know the feeling. 😉
My first favorite. 😉👍🏻
Sad that people do that for fun
If y'all have never been (or heard of) Kartchner Caverns, I recommend it.
Yes, even our plants believe it's a stand-your-ground state, and will use self defense. =)
Sedona, Grand Canyon, rock formations, Colorado river, Tombstone, Lowell Observatory. In Sedona, the jeep trip in the mountains, and the creek with sliding rocks were really fun. It's a beautiful place.
Positive. I like deserts.
@BamaGirl lives just one town south of me. We're practically neighbors! 👍🏻
Oh, very. Both the rocks and the politics. The only Republican to lose the state in a presidential election in the last 60 years is Bob Dole. Every conservative candidate since then has carried the state by solid margins. We probably won't be going blue ever again either, because the suburbs of Phoenix in Maricopa County control how the entire state votes. Those suburbs have been right-wing strongholds for so long that it has become culturally engrained. The last Democrat to win Maricopa County was Harry Truman.
I think of the silver mine my uncle and cousin died in from a cave-in.
All in all, I have nothing negative about the state of AZ, just a sad tale.
Hopefully we'll vote him out in the primaries soon.
It would be so cool to meet.
Only been there once when I was a child, but I guess positive
Sounds great, right...? =)
Hot, desert, Native American art, adobe, Grand Canyon-cannot, even when there grasp is scope of size, red rocks, retirees
Born and raised, family is here, easy to get around, just too many people.
Glux, up there in Cave Creek is a shop where you can get prickly pear licorice. I wish I could remember the name and/or location (I'll have to check with the wife later). That is some of the best stuff ever... =)
This got down voted fast! 😆
Ha! She just walked in. She seems fairly certain that we obtained it somewhere in Frontier Town....
Padres fan here. =P
Yes, it's in Frontier Town. I've gotten prickly pear-ghost pepper candy from that same store. But I get the prickly pear syrup that I mix into my lemonade from the Cave Creek Olive Oil Company. The brand they sell there uses locally-grown prickly pear and is made in Tempe.
Agreed. It seems like they have nothing better to do with their time.
Oof. Long year, man.
Pros: Flagstaff, NAU, Grand Canyon, Deserts, Cactus, Cardinal Stadium, Golf, Good People, No Daylight Savings Time
Cons: Scorching Heat
Beautiful and conservative. Very positive
I thought of heat and the cardinals.
Very very positive. Except for summer. I would die there in summer.
Native Americans, Grand Canyon, desert
I'm sorry for your loss.
