Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) called for the impeachment of President Trump on the House floor today. Realistically, how much of a chance do Democrats have of achieving their goal of impeaching the president?

Agreed. Trump is more likely to be reelected than impeached.

Regardless of if he is truly guilty or not, the house will not get the 2/3 vote. Even if Trump is guilty of a crime, republicans probably wouldn't remove him.

Mr Green and Auntie Maxine are committed to hurling the rudderless Democrats towards yet another shipwreck! They have no proof, they have no direction, they have no ideas ... except to continue to deny the legitimacy of the president.

This childish and contemptible position will ensure they remain in the irrelevant minority.

Zero. He would have to have committed a crime to be impeached, and he has not done so. He has made blunders and misstatements, to be sure, but he has not committed any crimes.

This is a dumb move.
But cheating Bernie was a dumb move.
Covering up Hillary's email treason was dumb.
You do not have to like trump to realize that the Democrats are on shaky ground.
Bill Clinton admitted that Obamacare hurt millions of working Americans.
Biden admitted that The Democrats have totally lost focus of support of the working families.
Attacking Trump is not going to be effective in helping him regain their footing on the above matters

Not until there is concrete evidence. Right now it's all speculation. They need to finish their investigations into the investigators do the investigating. Lol.

True that! By acting like a bunch of whiny children in reaction to everything Trump does, the Democrats are just making more Trump supporters and encouraging people to tune them out.

At this point, I wish they'd just do it & get it over with. If that's the hill they choose to die on, get on with it all-the-freakin-ready & stop *threatening* it! There is NO credible basis for the action but if they are just *determined* to finish what they started this last election season, go for it. I'm sure as hell am not going to stand in their way. The threat started BEFORE HE WAS EVEN SWORN INTO OFFICE! (Let's make Congress even *more* conservative!)

Just DO IT or shut up about it & get to work doing what you are *supposed* to be doing! *This* isn't that.

The media cannot impeach POTUS. Only Congress can. Further, Congress cannot legally impeach without grounds. They have none. Lots of unsourced unsubstantiated accusations, assertions, propaganda & gossip. No empirical fact.

They started *before* "day one" if you are counting from the day he was sworn into Office! There were calls for impeachment before he even actually *became* POTUS!

They've been trying since day one, with help from their friends in the media. It won't work. Besides, do they really want a President Pence, a true conservative?

No evidence, just a pissed off Comey expressing a stupid "he said, I said" opinion. Then the literally insane media thinking they're smelling blood and hoping to unset the guy who beat their pet candidate talking in fake serious tones about "impeachment" and "Watergate". These people are both crazy and evil.

Close to zero. It's basically a campaign ploy for the 2018 elections.

Even if the Democrats and their feverish fervor to impeach Trump kickstarts the impeachment proceedings, the GOP controlled Congress will be loathe to impeach the man who brought them in on his coat tails. Plus, the "progressive" wing of the left would have a collective heart attack as Pence neared the presidency. Suddenly they'd unite with the Trump supporters.

Hopefully 0% but an impeachment is likely because there are so many neocons in congress.

No chance in hell. Unlike the Dems the republicans that are in control of congress actually have some principles. They'd only let that happen if there was an actual reason to. And there won't be.

Heck even if they get control of the house to begin the process no way in hell the senate convicts.

Yeah, but the big wildcard here is the media, which ignored any issues with Obama, but are now eager to run with every 'unnamed source' that calls them with unverified information.

The Democrats have no chance because the Republicans hold all three branches of government. The GOP needs to wake up!

That would still require a majority in Congress willing to ride that train regardless the outcome & the numbers just aren't there... public pressure or not. There is a *minority* screaming like banshees. It looks & sounds & feels like a majority, but there is insufficient evidence that is fact.

I kinda wish they'd pull the trigger on it though. He hasn't been in office six months yet & I'm sick to death of the threat. Poo or get off the pot! If you are SO SURE you got the goods on him, throw down. 🙄 Not MY political career or party on the line. Go for it already.

I said less than 50%. Even if everything that's being investigated is proven true, the Republican controlled house and Senate wouldn't precede with impeachment. Even if Trump had shot Comey in the middle of the street instead of firing him, his minions and republicans in the house and Senate will make excuses and blame someone else.

Right. But the media can sway public opinion to approve or disapprove of something. If the public is crying out for it, Congress could act. If the public doesn't have the stomach for it, because the media portrays it as a witch-hunt or a waste of taxpayer money, as in the case of Bill Clinton, then they will turn against Congress.

Which is WHY I wish they'd stop threatening & just do it already! It would come to nothing regardless but at least there would be satisfaction in saying, "you did that already. Shut up." 🙄

THEY know they have nothing or they WOULD have already started proceedings. If they had any proof of any kind that would stand up to any sincere scrutiny there would be little stopping them.

But anyone paying any attention can see that isn't even the goal.

He will be assassinated before he is impeached.

I'd like a strong conservative. Though generally the VP position is used to fill the "gaps" of the primary candidate. Reach out to constituents they wouldn't otherwise appeal too.

Ideally I want Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, maybe representative Mia Love? She made a strong impression on me during her speech at a the march for life.

Honestly I'd vote for that ticket no matter who his #2 was.
