Is it fair that Alec Baldwin goes unscathed after his derogatory rant against a homosexual and Paula Deen loses almost everything for using the "N" word 30 years ago?
No, that wouldn't be fair, but that's not what happened. Paula Deen's problem was NOT caused by saying the N-word once years ago; by her own words in a deposition, it was MUCH more involved than that, and not in the past by any means.
Paula Deen lost a cooking show - not everything; she has plenty of other irons in the fire. Her employer was free to let her go if she didn't meet their standards. So are Alec Baldwin's employers. Apparently it doesn't bother them as much.
Wrong is wrong I don't care what the time period.
Paula Deen probably would have gone unscathed 30/40 years ago in the south as well. Racism was more accepted then.
