Dealer sells heroin to Bob, & advises Bob to only take 1/2 of it at a time. Bob takes the whole amount at once, OD's and dies. Should dealer be held responsible for Bob's death since he provides the drugs & be punished by law?

Dr gives you Rx, filled by pharmacist, both of whom are very clear about how controlled drug should be taken. Additionally, it is clearly written on bottle. Jack takes entire bottle w/alcohol; dies. Who's @ fault? Jack. Same thing. Same answer.

This was a difficult one. People should be responsible for their actions. The user is ultimately to blame for his own death.

Wow...I have to blame both. If I can only pick one, it's Bob for being stupid enough to start using drugs to begin with.

Thats the thing about drugs. Once you're under the influence, your decision making skills go down the drain.
Im undecided. The dealer should be arrested for selling illegal drugs. Not someone else's bad decision.

They're both responsible. Dealers selling junk. People die. Go to jail.

There were reliable witnesses to the sale, warning, and consumption of the drugs? Not heroin addicts themselves? And did they try to stop Bob from cooking and shooting the whole amount? These are crucial questions that would have to be answered...

before prosecuting the dealer.

If I take more than the prescribed dose of my medication and I die is it my doctor's fault?
Prescription drugs are just as dangerous as illegal or OTC drugs.

Either way, I think bob is responsible for his actions. The dealer is morally in the wrong, but trying to make a living like the rest of us.

Stupid should hurt. I have compassion for those hooked on drugs, or whatever, in the end, Darwin was right.

I'm seeing below that a dealer would be charged but I don't think he should be, just like a doctor is not held legally liable for a prescription overdose. The dealer needs to be charged for selling the drugs but taking to much is on the user.

This happened to my cousin's girlfriend. She was the dealer, and getting charged with manslaughter.

The dealer should be arrested for the selling of illegal drugs, but not for the death of Bob.
