Should burning the US flag in protest be a protected form of free speech?

As much as I detest that, as will as fly upside down it is their right to do so. They live in the United States of America where they have the freedom to act like that.

No, it's a disgrace. I'm against the burning. It is not expression an opinion, it is stepping on other people's beliefs. I would compare it to burning a cross.

United States v. Eichman (1990) Supreme Court ruled the US Government could not ban the burning or defiling of a personally owned flag.

Yes. I think it is an awful and disgraceful way to voice your opinion but a person has the right to act awfully and disgracefully if they want.

No because it shouldn't be a form of protest. People should find better ways to vent their anger than burning the flag which men have died protecting

No victim, no crime. Does a person's destruction of their own property infringe on your own rights/property or anyone else's? If they're destroying it *on* your property, you have a right to kick them out, but otherwise no law should prohibit this.

Ooo, good point, and that's an awesome question, if something as offensive as burning a flag should be seen as free speech, what about the cross, maybe an extra intimidation factor, but some factions burning the flag is also meant to intimidate.

Instead of just naming flag maybe you can broaden it and ask what should be allowed, flag, books, yourself, religious artifacts. Ask people to comment on their limit

I'm interested in seeing the difference, do you mind if I ask?

I would have a hard time going through all the stuff we should be allowed to burn, Lol at allowed to burn yourself, btw. I like to pick a couple on extreme sides and compare the results, to see if there are always moral exceptions to freedom.
