Whom do you perceive more positively and why? (Ted Talk in link below)
I perceive both pretty neutrally, I just said introverted because that's what I am. It's mostly about where people get the most energy from- being around others or being alone/in smaller settings. I don't see one as being better than the other.
I totally agree with you, Syd. I'm an introvert myself. CriticalCynic had polls about being drawn to confidence, but I've concluded that's not it at all. In the US we conflate confidence with the characteristics of extroversion, and as a society we are obsessed with extroverts. Others view Americans that way, too. I have been told on multiple occasions when in Europe or Asia that people there didn't believe I was American. Haha!
Some of the most innovative and world changing people were/are introverts:
Abraham Lincoln, Charles Darwin, Bill Gates, Albert Einstein, Ghandi, Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandela, Stephen Spielburg, Michael Jordan, Stephen Hawking, Steve Wozniak, J. K. Rowling, Bob Dylan, Meryl Streep, Mark Zuckerberg...and the list could go on.
I remember that Ted Talk, do they replay them? Extroverts are definitely better because they change the world.
Wow! I'm totally surprised that as of now the vote is much higher for perceiving introverts more positively. Who knew?
Sorry. This should have been a reply to TheSocialist.
