TODAY IN HISTORY: Dec. 16, 1969 - British House of Commons votes 343-185 to abolish the death penalty. Should America abolish the death penalty?

Let it be a state decision. That said, my personal preference is no death penalty at all or, as a compromise, only in cases where there is absolutely no doubt whatsoever as to guilt.

That decision is up to each state. Unless one is in a federal prison. Then a ban would be applicable. The last federal prisoner executed was Lois Jones, Jr. in March 1973.

It isn't that I'm for or against the death penalty. I've come to the conclusion that there's no real value for it.
With the costs and delays, it's just not worth the fight anymore to support it.
