The founding fathers realized that a pure democracy could be bad. That's way the house of Reps is the only truly democratically elected national official.

The Electoral College serves as a de facto veto for State's Rights.
Moreover, Abolish the 17th Amendment. Have Senators elected by State Legislators.

Electoral college has some very good reasons to exist, but I think it needs to be changed from a winner takes all system.
