Regarding the doing of children's laundry: "You're a stay at home mom. It's your job" -my sister
Being a parent is not a job. It's a responsibility
That being said, the kid can do their own laundry
If you're a stay at home parent, why wouldn't you do the laundry?
The parent can do the laundry for older children if they have time and the inclination to do so. If certainly isn't in the parenting/stay at home mom contract.
"I think part of being a stay at home mom is teaching responsibility"
Part of being a PARENT is teaching responsibility, whether you're unemployed or not
Depends on the age of the kids. Once mine turned 16, I made them do their own. At some point you have to prepare them for living on their own. I taught them to cook the basics around that age, too.
It blows! Every time she opens her mouth when talking to them I want to scream at her & whack her on the side of the head for being so rude & disrespectful!
I think part of being a stay at home mom is teaching responsibility. Laundry is part of that. Personally, I like doing my own laundry anyway.
It's a group effort in our home.
It sounds like someone needs to. 😂😜
That's what I tell my mom since I have a busy schedule, but then she gets all emotional and well yeah
Your sister would be doing her own laundry... She's old enough and fully capable!
My mom taught me to do my own as soon as I was old enough
Yeah, definitely, I was tailoring my statement to the specific question.
She said it because my parents are making us do our own laundry now after an incident Saturday night... So now because of her I have to work that into my busy schedule 😑 My sister has not yet learned to SHUT TF UP sometimes!
The stay at home parent job description doesn't include servitude. Parents decide to stay home for many reasons, servitude is not one of them. Parents teach until you can do, then you do. My 11yo does her own laundry as of a month ago.
I'm sorry that her stupidity is impacting you!
It's not your job necessarily. The parents need to agree on the division of labor.
