Slxpluvs, I can see the emo thing, but I really liked it, nonetheless.

Tobey Macguire was awful. Lately, this app is just reminding me how far America has fallen. Culturally, and politically.

Tobey's a vegan so I've gotta support him :D

Toby always seemed like a massive downer.

America, no. I liked the old Spidey movies at one point when they first came out, but I just watched the new movie and was blown away. Andrew is such an admirable Spider-Man, and he plays the teenage geek so very well. Andrew just fits way better than Tobey ever did. GO ANDREW GARFIELD!!!

Andrew is way more attractive than Toby. No competition at all

I don't think anyone can beat the original, but I was pleased with Andrew Garfield's portrayal of the web slinging hero

Why even make a new Spiderman movie? Nothing was wrong with the first one.

Andrew is soooo cute! ^-^

Toby is terrible. Andrew is a better actor.

New guy is too much of a pretty boy..

The new one is far better in itself (Garfield was a much better Peter Parker). The first was better for its time, with post 9/11 nationalism. I'd say the new one, because it's closer to the comics and it's far funnier. Nice choice of villain, too! Good story.

Tobey was terrible. The last 3 movies were bad. New Spiderman was great and Garfield did a fantastic job. That's it.

I like how all the comments say "Garfield was way better" yet the overwhelming vote was Maguire...

Very hard choice. I say the new one and not for the person who played it or anything. I thing Tobey and Andrew where both excellent at the part. I like the new one for the better action and crazy storyline. The old one had a lot to do with action also but still a lot with the girl (Mary Jane)

Garfield was a much truer depiction of Peter Parker than Maguire's

Burnsey89, Indeed I was being ironic. Andrew is much too emo for the role.

Why does the nation think Tobey is better? -_- Smh

Tobey is a beta-male! He's a good actor but should stick to chick flicks.

It's too soon for this question. The movie has only been out two days.

I was never satisfied with Tobey as Spiderman. Andrew seems much more suited to the part. Not to mention he did most of his own stunts, which is pretty impressive to me after seeing the new movie.

I vote against Toby. The new looks awful, yet still better than toby

I liked Andrew better. He was a cool nerd as opposed to Tobey whose character lacked a little substance.

I appreciate Garfield more because he more accurately portrays the overall smart-ass-ness of Peter Parker in the original comics.

I hate when Hollywood uses one actor to portray a character, then a decade later they use a new actor when the original is still alive and quite capable. They did this with James Bond over and over. 'Glad you told me before I wasted my $$ on the new guy. Tobey will always be Spiderman to me.

Toby is ugly when he cries...the fact that he did nothing with the role that even resembled the comic book Peter Parker, is infuriating...but being an ugly crier...I just can't forgive that.

If anyone didn't know: Tobey didn't want to do another Spiderman.

I haven't seen either, but I'm going with Andrew Garfield because his American accent is admirable.

Andrew played the part so much better than Tobey. The new movie was better than the old ones, because it stays true to the origins. It was just an all-around better cast this time too.

I'd have to say Andrew just for the fact that he plays the nerdy side much better. spiders are supposed to be agile and scrawny. Andrew plays that pretty well when compared to Tobey, he doesn't have the 'spider' look to him like Andrew does.

Did Tobey insult Mormons or something?

I think it's so dumb that they're remaking three perfectly good movies with slight tweaks closer following the comic book.

smtimberman
07/07/12 8:20 am

The new movie isn't just a tweak on the old ones. It's a completely different alternative universe. Spiderman and Amazing Spiderman are different comics. Also, AS is way better of a movie than the first three. And I mean WAAAAAYYYYY better!
