Goodness, I hope not! With Amazon gift cards available, checking for age or felony convictions becomes "if it is legal for you to buy a firearm, check this box."

Most places, a book. But downriver or in flint (just to name places I have first-hand experience with), guns and drugs are easier to buy, especially if you don't have internet access, which, if you're living out there, you very well may not.
