Our town has a HS football rivalry with the town just across the bridge. The winner is considered the owner of the bridge for that year.

Midland and Odessa are sister cities, both ~100k people, 20 miles apart, and are bitter sports rivals. Odessa is home to the Permian Panthers ("MOJO"), the team about which the book Friday Night Lights was written (and where the movie was filmed).

Sounds like Houston. They're Dallas wannabes, especially in football! :-P

What city are you in? Ft worth is much closer than that....

The next town is 80 sq miles with 25k white people. We are 27 sq miles with 12k white people. No communication with them.

Well if Houston ever gets anything more than a journeyman QB, we'll be somebody. Besides, Dallas (my hometown BTW), or should I say Romo chokes in the playoffs. ;o)

The Phlegm, I went to TCU back during the Kenneth Davis days in the early 80s. We had a rivalry with SMU and still do. Now it's not much of one. Did Ya see yesterday's score over Tech? Baylor was a poorly officiated game and should have been a win!

My wife's Uncle designed all the field posters for the Friday Night Lights movie. Weird because he went to Permian. He also sang with Roy Orbison and a cadre of others. Yup, the missus is from Odesolate!

The TV series was filmed in Austin, and they even changed the school name. Jerks.

Peoria?

I had a rock band in college that played for a hs dance in Washington back in the early 70s. I went to Millikin U. in Decatur.

Morton. I think peoria is more rivals with Bloomington

I live in an urban area surrounded by nothing. There is no one to be rivals with.

It's a short jog of 278 miles. Big D!
