Do you think our society is less empathetic than we used to be twenty to forty years ago? (Link Attached of Study)
A sociologist once explained to me the way society changes every couple generations. You'll have a couple of generations of individualistic, ambitious go-getters, the thinkers, the doers. Then a generation or two of the group oriented, touchy feely
types, like the 60's flower children. Then back to the individualistic go getters of the 80's, then back again & we're worried about the unambitious kids of the 90's. Now we're going back to the individualistic youth again & we're worried about that.
I think that theory covers most of it, but I do also wonder about the internet & our changing social dynamics because of it. We form relationships w/strangers online, but don't know our neighbors. It's very different than it was yrs ago.
Less empathetic and less altruistic too...
