If it wasn't for classes I would be only $2,000 dollars away from no longer be considered in poverty. (I'm a student so I'm not actually considered there), but is our standard of poverty, being the income ceiling to high or too low?
Compared to the rest of the world it's way too high. Poverty in the United States is a cake walk compared to many other nations. Of course, that doesn't mean we should leave them without assistance, but we do need better perspective.
