Dr. Ellis Silver, an ecologist, believes humans aren't native to Earth. He cites our bad backs, sunburns, and difficulty in childbirth as evidence that we did not evolve on this planet. Should we take his word for it because he's a scientist?

No. He's not expressing any kind of science, just speculation. If multitudes of replicable studies were done and the evidence convinced 95% of scientists, then yes we should believe him. But still not simply because he's a scientist.

Well he is a scientist. Why would I dare question the expert?

I know. I felt kind of silly even asking because this is science, after all.

Lol.

I'm not a scientist so I don't have a leg to stand on, but some of the things he is saying are hard to swallow.

Not that I'm saying he's not right!!because that would be way out of line for a normal person like me to say about a scientist.

Saying "he's a scientist" is disingenuous. He's an ecologist, not an anthropologist, xenobiologist, palentologist, or anything at all that makes him relevant to his own claim.

Why? This theory seems as plausible as evolution, creationism or the big bang.

Uhhh... You do know, right, that nobody is believed simply because they're "a scientist"--nor should they be. Observable, testable, repeatable science speaks for itself. Scientists themselves are irrelevant.

That's some crazy stuff you're saying there, Kermie.

If you'll excuse me...I'd rather not associate with someone who doesn't believe in science.

I love the 95% of scientists statistic that is always thrown around with GW. As if you could ever know what 95% of all scientists believe about any subject.

We as humans don't have life's answers. This article is as plausible as any in my opinion. We don't know.

Well if he gathers a consensus of greedy, yet qualified scientists, to manipulate false data to promote a Progressive agenda that is designed to ruin economies and sovereignty, then of course I'd believe him.

Not that it matters. There are so many scientific disciplines that 95 percent of scientists probably know as much as the average Joe about any given topic.

I figured as it would be impossible to know that or even accurately infer, but I think it's funny how they believe all of the stats thrown at them while citing a ridiculous one they somehow also believe.

So, a quarter of Libs believe human beings are actually aliens rather than having evolved from apes? Well, I guess that IS progress!

Science is a catch-all term for a set of disciplines rooted in empiricism.

Can't blame them. I forced them to make a choice between defending the general infallibility "science" or defending evolution.
That's a tough catch-22 for some folks.

I think it's bad science, and probably generally not accepted. We have so many biological indicators that we've evolved here on earth. Evolution isn't a perfect process.
