CVS Pharmacies announced today that they will stop selling tobacco products on October 1, 2014. Are you as proud of them as I am?
Considering the devastating damage that secondhand smoke did to my health as a child and the fatal damage smoking did to my mother, I am overjoyed at this decision. Treat each other with respect in these comments, please. :o)
CVS wasn't forced to stop. They made a decision with their business.
I love it.
Does anyone know what causes more lung cancer and related deaths than tobacco smoke? Radon. A naturally occurring chemical that is released by the very dirt we walk on. The earth causes cancer.
I don't smoke so it doesn't effect me at all.
Will you post your link for that stat.. thanks
Its good for people... but those who smoke have a right to smoke we should not take it upon ourselves to force them to stop a legal practice.
Never bought tobacco there anyway, won't make a difference. People will just buy it another place.
I'm glad they have the right to make their own business decisions.
Don't matter to me.
Darn it! Now I will have to cut down on my pipe smoking!
Well that's their loss people will just spend their money elsewhere
So? Just means a lil more business for the gas stations and walmarts near them yeah?
I didn't see anyone questioning anyone's rights.
I've never set foot in a CVS. Doesn't affect me either way.
Let me put this as politely as I feel, CVS sucks, bye bye my business
I not proud of them, but they can do what they want.
Yes I am.. They rock...
Yes because it is up to CVS on how people should live. I support their right as a private business to do so, however it if someone wants to smoke they have every right to regardless it is no one choice.
We are all going down. Meh
Wow, we agree on something.
Have fun smoking yourself to death :P
Exactly. People can simply get their smokes at a place that wants to sell them
How are they taking an authoritarian position by saying (with action) that they dont want to cell cigarettes anymore. They're not obligated to
CVS can do whatever they want. It's their business, but I am glad they did this.
They dont sell booze either. Is this another way of controlling people? What obligation do they have to sell cigarettes?
That's weird lol
You saying cancer is natural?
No, they're just saying they don't feel like selling cigarettes anymore.
I have never understood why CVS and Walgreens sold tobacco products. Always seemed wrong.
I suspect it was more of business decision than a decision of conscience.
I did not say they were forced by anyone. I simply do not appreciate them taking a somewhat authoritarian stance on the issue. However you are right they are a private business and may do however they like
It does seem kinda silly for a drugstore that specializes in selling products that are supposed to improve health to simultaneously sell tobacco.
They are ultimately being an authority on peoples health they are taking matters into their own hands
