Based on a conversation with my sister. Do your parents know how much income you make?
They always taught me income is personal, it is nobody's business
Nope! The less they know about my life the better.
I learned what not to do from my parents. I was doing well on my own but my husband has a fantastic system that works well for us.
Unemployed, pretty easy to figure out. Even with Texas math.
My mothers and gone a while but I think she asked us how much my husband made.
Yes, my mom does our taxes.
Of course it all comes out at thanksgiving, you have to show your brothers and sisters who makes more! And your parents are there, so yes they over hear .....
I want our kids to learn to budget like their Daddy has taught me and how we decide to spend but I'm not sure they need to know every aspect.
My mom and dad probably have an idea, but no.
My parents didn't teach me much about money. I had to find out many things on my own.
You know, I don't know. I imagine they have a fairly good idea from our lifestyle (they know we have no debt), but they've never asked, and I've never really brought it up.
I'm super frustrated that my dad assumed to know what we make and then used that to belittle my sister and her husband. They are happy and doing just fine, just as we are. That is all that matters.
Not anymore. Somehow, my mom thinks she's entitled to my raises. So, I don't mention anything new anymore.
nope and they are not going to. It's none of their business.
It's funny. Growing up, my parents did not want us to know anything about their finances. Even after I graduated from college and passed the CPA exam, my parents still didn't trust me knowing anything about their finances.
Only after my parents got divorced is when I was allowed to do their taxes and find out about their finances.
