A lawsuit by the RNC and Libertarian Party of Mississippi before the Supreme Court could overturn ballot grace periods in the 14 states which have them. These range from 1 day in Texas to 21 days in Washington. Do you support ballot grace periods?

As long as the postmark is on or before Election Day, the ballots should be counted.

NOPE! Only cheaters want grace periods so they can cheat. I don’t care what the Democrats say, there is absolutely NO excuse whatsoever not to get your vote in on time by election night, period! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έβ€οΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έβ€οΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Makes sense to me that if a registered voter has a postmark on a mail in ballot on Election Day, it should be counted.

I absolutely do not support the unethical late ballot counting.

Just like with taxes, if your ballot is not postmarked on time, it is late. With the IRS, the penalties and late fees begin immediately.

The penalty for a late ballot is that it simply must not count.

If they can't make up their mind before election day, they need to show up in person ( the way it should be anyway).

Ballots can be postmarked on or before Election Day and still take several days to be delivered. What if you mail your completed ballot on Election Day while on vacation in Florida but you live in Alaska? Expecting the ballot to be delivered later that same day is totally unrealistic.

I don't know. I think every state should accept all ballots postmarked by Election Day, regardless of when they get delivered.

Oh, so something a candidate says within a month of Election Day could change someone's vote. And how would people in the military serving overseas just hop on a plane last-minute to vote? You really haven't thought your position through, have you?

IRS goes by postmark date, regardless of when the tax return is delivered. So that means you believe in grace periods for ballots.

It’s called absentee ballots. They have always had those. That’s not a ballot mailed to every registered voter. Even the 300,000 dead ones because the roles are out of date. Go back to absentee ballots and in person only.

Yes, if the delay is due to USPS. Delivery to USPS means delivery to the government. If it works for tax returns it should be the same for ballots.

That grace period is normally when a poll worker amazingly “discovers” 30k ballots, and all for one party - so that is No for me

I’m willing to bet those 14 states don’t have voter ID either.

This mess could all be avoided if Congress did their damn jobs and passed the Save America Act like 84% of the American people want.

Absolutely not. Election Day should be a hard cutoff. A few days prior as the cutoff for mail-ins would actually make more sense.

As long as it’s postmarked by Election Day I don’t see the problem. What about the elderly and those in the military? Should they have to be physically present to vote? It is not practical for them to do so.

Of course you need to honor the postmark and count the ballots. First Americans don't deserve to be disenfranchised. But second, it accounts for any type of disruption in transit – traffic, weather, North Korean freighter sitting in the harbor,…

Typical Republican playbook.

1) get rid of grace periods even if the postmark is by the required dat

2) sabotage usps so they can’t deliver ballots on time

Poly … you’re pushing smoke to confuse a very easy issue. There is NO way that a ballot delivered 21 days after Election Day was postmarked on time.

Unethical leftists demand that ballots that are postmarked and/or hand delivered after Election Day.

This is yet another reason why we can’t trust Democrats with power.

They should get rid of mail in ballots in total except for the military over seas. And the few that are allowed to vote by mail they should have a cut off to vote my mail 1 month before Election Day. No ballots should be accepted after Election Day even if it’s post mark on Election Day.

They must arrive at the post office on time. Just like your tax return. The grace period is to get the ballots from the post office to the election counting facility. Not to allow people to send them in a week late.

A lot of people who were too sick or immobile simply didn't vote. Weird that you would want to return to that.

That’s not a grace period to me. That means it has to be post marked on time. But last election they allowed ballots postmarked days late. Why?

Reply

Exactly. Eliminate mail in voting and a mail in ballot sent to every registered voter. That’s just asking for fraud. Then only allow absentee and in person voting. The absentee ballots have to be postmarked by Election Day at midnight. Just like the IRS does it. There. I fixed it.

"If it comes down to a single statement to make you change your vote in a general election then you are the outliner. Most people make up their minds on who they are going to vote for months before an election."

So what? You want to deny the vote to people who decide last-minute? Why?

Wrong. California has a shorter grace period than Washington. Washington's grace period is the longest in the nation (21 days). And every ballot that is counted in Washington must be postmarked on or before Election Day. I have had letters take 35 days to get from Seattle to Dallas, so it's not as crazy as it sounds. Maybe you should educate yourself before making yourself look like an even bigger moron than you already have.
