I looked it up with so many different explanations, it looks likely it was the Southern Europeans or the Native Americans who had steak very early on, but they’re unsure who actually had it first.
It looks like prime rib became popular roughly at the same in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, Ireland and New Zealand during the industrial revolution period.
Grow up in Germany until we moved to US when I was 10. Joined USAF. Rhein-Main AB from 77-80. Northern Italy from 94-97. Both were outstanding. Wife, kids and I had a blast. Also lived in Turkey from 84-97 which was fun as well.
