SCOTUS doesn’t have the ability to approve funding. That would make a horrible precedent. Congress approves budgets- that shouldnt change.
This entire shutdown is the democrats fault.

We keep posting that the majority of those on snap WORK. Majority full time. Quit ignoring the facts...

Support in that it is not up to the judicial branch to direct where money goes.
Idk how anyone can think this shutdown isn’t Democrat caused with all the blocking of the full bill and individual bills to pay for SNAP benefits or pay the military or pay federal workers or air traffic controllers. They are holding all of that spending hostage as leverage. It’s not even a debate who is stopping funding.

If there is a shutdown, federal money should only go to the essential things. Snap is extra not essential. They need to go to work and agree on a legit budget

If you work as essential federal worker , you are working but not getting paid , so how do you feed yourself.
BUT
If you stay home and are on the government dole, you should not get money for food currently.
Why should a person who doesn’t work get money for food , while the fed gov worker whom is actively working NOT get money for food.
Make that make sense.

Providing food to those in need is EVERYONE'S responsibility, including the government. But, I'm sure you would just let them starve...

The democrats could do something about it but they put illegals above American citizens. Thats what this has always been about. You leftists are liars. You don’t care about those on Snap. This is a political ploy so you can blame Trump because you hate him and wish he were dead. No, Americans first, illegals should all be deported. The government needs to reopen so those on SNAP can eat.

It is the responsibility of EVERYONE who's capable. Including the government. Anyone who says otherwise aren't really concerned with children not being able to have food.

The president of the federal government intent cannot unilaterally create and budget and fund things without congressional approval. This has always been the case.

So now it's important that congress control the money spent. How convenient...

The government can use other money to pay for SNAP, and a federal court has ordered it to do so during a government shutdown, despite the administration's initial refusal. While contingency funds were used to make partial payments, judges determined that the government had the discretion to tap other funds to ensure full benefits were provided to recipients.

SCOTUS did not let SNAP benefits run out.
KBJ the Justices who oversees the First District sent the ruling that violates separation of powers back to the First District Court of Appeals.

SNAP is an essential government program because it is one of the most effective anti-poverty tools, lifting millions of people out of poverty each year.

SNAP doesnt lift the majority of its benefactors out of poverty. There are a minority of people that use it temporary to lift themselves out of poverty. The a large swath of people use the subsidy as a crutch to keep hobbling through life.
People are dependent on SNAP benefits for their lifestyle and we are seeing their pleads for SNAP payments to continue surfacing all across the internet.
Some women are even bold enough to complain that they no longer have money for themselves and must spend it on their children to put food on the table.
A person who uses SNAP benefits for their livelihood is a person in poverty. A person who uses SNAP benefits to make it through the month is a person living in poverty.
A person who uses SNAP benefits for the time between losing income and finding income, is lifting themselves out of poverty.
