Women were 25% more likely than men to say they’re camera-shy. Is that gap mainly biological—or something society teaches us?

Societal. Obviously. There's no uncomfortable-while-on-camera gene.

From what I see on social media, women far outnumber men in photos. I’m skeptical about that statistic.

I did a poor/nonexistent job of identifying that number. It should have, …. , My ‘Are you camera shy’ poll had that gap among those of here on SoH. Sorry.

No problem. SOH isn’t exactly an accurate cross-section of humanity.

That’s not what I see at all. Most of the pics on social media are of women or taken by women. Guys stand there awkwardly, not knowing what to do with their hands! 😂 Many of them even refuse to smile.

Society.
At one time women’s roles on stage were played by men because ‘society’ was not accepting. Then when women *did* start getting professional stage roles, the actresses were talked about as being of low moral character.
Since I have a female Equity actor in the family, I can appreciate the history that took place before women finally realized that they could turn a blind eye to the scoffers and took to the lights fantastic and show their faces and lives.
Thank God for the actors, Dorothea Lange, Margaret Bourke-White, etc, that took the passion for Life to the camera, documenting the good & bad of Life.
